USA announces men's Olympic golf team – Golf News

USA GOLF has announced the four men who will represent the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held at Le Golf National from August 1-4.

As the top four Americans in the men's Olympic Golf Ranking, Scottie Scheffler (No. 1), Xander Schauffele (No. 3), Wyndham Clark (No. 5) and Collin Morikawa (No. 7) each qualified to represent Team USA.

Each country can enter up to 4 players as long as they are ranked among the top 15 in the world, otherwise they are limited to two.

2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Schauffele and Morikawa will be representing Team USA at the Olympic Games for the second time in their careers, while World No. 1 Scheffler and 2023 US Open champion Clark will be playing for the first time.

“The United States is home to some of the best golfers in the world and it is an honor to introduce four men to represent Team USA on the world stage,” said USA GOLF Executive Director Andy Levinson. “Since golf's return to the Olympic Games in 2016, Team USA has reached the podium both times, with Matt Kuchar earning bronze in Rio and Xander Schauffele bringing home gold in Tokyo. With such a talented team heading to Paris, we feel confident in the continued success of Team USA.”

The Olympic golf championships will host fields of 60 players for both men and women over a 72-hole course at Le Golf National, the venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup.

Despite being advertised as 'teams', the Olympic golf tournament is an individual stroke play, with no team component in scoring.

The women's golf tournament runs from August 7-10, and the formation of teams will be completed on June 24 following the conclusion of the Women's PGA Championship.
