Jake Paul-Mike Perry, Amanda Serrano-Stevie Morgan Co-Headline July 20 DAZN PPV in Tampa

Jake Paul and Amanda Serrano have chosen not only to work but to accept dangerous battles to stay busy.

The two should co-headline the rescheduled card for November 15 at AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas. Before that, they will perform in the same format on the July 20th DAZN Pay-Per-View event from the AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) has confirmed that Paul (9-1, 6 knockouts) will face 'Platinum' Mike Perry in the main event on July 20. Perry is undefeated in the Bareknuckle Fighting Championship (5-0, 3 KOs in BKFC) and former MMA star. This will be his first boxing match since 2015.

Their fight presented by CELSIUS® will have eight rounds scheduled at cruiserweight.

Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) will keep his reign as featherweight champion in line with his next fight. The seven-division champion will face Stevie Morgan (14-1, 13 KOs) in a scheduled ten-round junior welterweight contest.

The decision to stay at the top weight should provide a smooth transition to Serrano's next outing, assuming he wins. Awaiting the legendary Boricua southpaw is a two-division rematch with reigning 140-pound queen Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs). Their hit was delivered at the Nov. show. 15 and Paul-Tyson; Ireland's Taylor decided to sit out this summer and head straight for the Serrano rematch.

Paul and Serrano both like—and have a platform—to fight as often as possible.

“When Paul vs. Tyson being rescheduled, I immediately knew that I still wanted to fight on Saturday, July 20,” explained Paul. “Now, as I prepare for my fight with Iron Mike, there is no one better than me except Mike Perry. He is a proven escape artist who has shown insanity in the ring. This is the best experience I can get before facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with a risk.

“Those who know me know I'm a risk taker and even though 'Platinum' Perry may try to take me down, I'm Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no one. I'm going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I bring to the ring against Mike Tyson. Tune in to the DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send 'Platinum' Perry the Platypus back to bare bones.”

Naturally, his opponent has other ideas.

“Jake Paul says he's not afraid of anyone,” Perry asked. But on Saturday, July 20, the world will see the truth. He made the worst mistake of his life by trying to pass me before Iron Mike. I'm going to make it look easy on Saturday, July 20, and I'm going to teach Jake Paul a lot of what he's learned about fighting.”

BACK TO THE CONTINUOUS LIST OF BOXING'S WINNINGEST EVER

Paul—now based in Dorado, Puerto Rico—last fought on March 2 in San Juan. He scored a first-round knockout of Ryan Bourland (18-3, 6 KOs) on a night set for Serrano's big comeback.

The main event was canceled a few minutes before the scheduled opening bell. Serrano was supposed to defend her 126-pound crown against Nina Meinke, but her cornea was exposed to chemicals used to treat her hair. A last-ditch effort to get medical clearance proved futile, leaving Serrano in tears to apologize to his adoring fans.

Bad luck beyond his control led to his second consecutive canceled fight date. Like Paul, the desire to fight far outweighed the thought of not returning to the ring until November.

“I'm already preparing for the fight that will take place on Saturday, July 20,” said Serrano. “This is an opportunity for me to face another tough boxer in Stevie Morgan. My opponent has 13 KOs, more than any other active female boxer.

“But I'm not afraid of a woman – I accept war. I look forward to seeing all my Puerto Rican fans in Tampa for my 50th professional fight to show the world my skills at super lightweight.”

Serrano's only other fight at heavyweight established his seventh division title reign. She moved up above her traveling weight to outpoint Yamila Reynoso (11-4-3 at the time) to win the WBO 140-pound title.

The move coincides with Serrano's double weight jump the last time he played AMALIE Arena. She moved up to lightweight, where she fought and defeated Miriam Gutierrez over ten rounds in their Dec. 2021. This fight was the one that supported Paul repeatedly and Tyron Woodley knocked him out in the sixth round.

One fight later, Serrano came up short in a split decision over Taylor. Their April 2022 undisputed lightweight champion is still the gold standard for big fights among women in boxing.

Serrano returned to featherweight, where he joined the division fully over the course of his next two fights. He last defended his featherweight championship in a twelve-round decision over Danila Ramos (12-3, 1 KO last Oct. 27 in Orlando, Florida.

Now Serrano is not only moving up to his opponent's weight class but will be traveling to his hometown.

Tampa's Morgan (14-1, 13 KOs) fought mostly in Colombia, last two fights in Memphis. This will mark his first fight at home, and a huge jump in the level of competition.

“We've been training for an opportunity like this,” Morgan emphasized. “I want to fully respect Amanda for everything she has done in her career and in women's boxing. “In this game, in order to make a name for yourself, you have to take a name

“I have 13 KOs and nothing will be more fun than making Amanda Serrano number 14.”

UNDERCARD FEATURES ALL-FLORIDA REMATCH

MVP also revealed one confirmed fight for the undercard.

Undefeated Florida wrestlers Tony Aguilar and Corey Marksman will take it back five months after their exciting Feb. 2 lightweight in Orlando. The two battled to a six-round decision, promising that their next outing would be eight rounds.

Aguilar (12-0-1, 4 KOs), a 25-year-old from Crescent City, FL, has become a staple of MVP undercards. This will mark his fourth in a row, all in a span of nine months.

In the spirit of action, Aguilar continued with another round when Marksman's second fight was not immediately available. He defeated Alexander Rios in eight rounds on April 26, six months after winning a split decision on the Serrano-Ramos undercard.

Orlando's Marksman (9-0-1, 7 KOs) was absent at the time but has since entered the ring. The 23-year-old scored a first-round knockout of Jonathan Perez on June 8 in his hometown.

“The stakes are high for every MVP hero who steps into the ring,” said MVP founder Nakisa Bidarian. “For Jake and Amanda, there is pressure to come up with a W against two very dangerous rivals, Mike Perry and Stevie Morgan.

“Jake Paul is facing a monster in Mike Perry. Amanda Serrano will go in there with a fighter with 13 KOs in 15 fights. Nothing is given to our two superstars. We also have an impressive line-up of undercard fights, the first of which features lightweight heavyweights Aguilar vs. Marksman. This fight will see these young talents put their undefeated records on the line and work to set a new precedent for title contenders in the sport.

“We're excited to be back in Tampa and put on another night of heart-racing battles.”
