Jake Paul will fight Mike Perry on July 20

July 20, 2024 was supposed to be the date of the biggest new fight since Conor McGregor slipped between the ropes to face Floyd Mayweather in 2017. Because that night, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas, social media promoter turned famous boxer Jake Paul. take on former champion Mike Tyson in a real, honest professional boxing match. An injury – or perhaps just old age – led Tyson to postpone the fight to November, however, leaving the July 20 date open for Paul. Suffice it to say, the striker known as “The Problem Child” has decided to fill the void by arranging a joint fight with martial artist turned bare-knuckle boxer Mike Perry.
“1 Mike, 2 Mikes, 3 Mikes, 4,” Paul wrote on social media on Tuesday.
“The truth is that everyone who opposes him has touched the ground
5 months before Tyson and I go to war
So for now Perry and I are going to make Tampa roar
I am not afraid of anyone, anytime, anywhere, anywhere
July 20th will be another W, so let's say kindness
BKFC champions, who will kneel
After that we will go to Ireland and take McGregors equity.[sic]”
Perry himself was eager to balance this fight, saying on social media that “we are going to fight on July 20, I promise to give the world the War they want to see!” I'm going to put Platinum pressure on the kid Live in Tampa, tickets go on sale tomorrow at noon!” [sic]. This will be the second professional boxing match for the 32-year-old Perry. Although he lost to Kenneth McNeil in 2015 there is no doubt that the man has polished his punching game over the years. Indeed, Perry holds an unbeaten boxing record of 5-0. When you consider the fact that Perry started empty-boxing in 2022, that's amazing.
Paul, needs no introduction to boxing fans. Since taking up professional boxing in 2020, the 27-year-old has compiled a record of 9-1. What once seemed like a lark has turned out to be a serious endeavor for the Cleveland native. Paul trains intensively, has developed a strong style and has a real winning ability. He will certainly need to look impressive against Perry. There's still that clash with Tyson going down in the fall, after all.
Paul-Perry is scheduled for eight rounds in the cruiserweight division at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. The fight will reportedly be broadcast live on pay-per-view via the DAZN streaming service.
