“One thing I want to tell you about the news is, the things I want to sell Logan Couture and anything like that. That is completely false.
When you consider that we bring young players here and we have a young team, he is the type of person you want to have around your young players. He is our captain. He is our leader. He had a rough year. But we love him as a person most importantly, and he is still a hockey player.
So any of that, you guys can put any of those thoughts about me wanting to trade our captain, put that to rest.”
NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks, Mario Ferraro, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Patrik Laine
Will the New York Islanders be able to trade Mitch Marner?
David Kolb of Hockey News: The New York Islanders don't have a lot of salary cap space next season, so filling their holes in free agency won't be easy. Are there any 'hockey trades' out there? Are they moving the contract to make some flexibility?
If they could somehow find cap space, UFA Jake Guentzel would certainly help but trading Mitch Marner would be more likely to sign Guentzel. There has been speculation about Marner at the New York Rangers but they need help in center not on the wing.
What would an Islanders-Toronto Maple Leafs trade look like? Is it Adam Pelech ($5.75 million cap hit) or Ryan Pulock ($6.15 million cap hit) and a draft pick for Marner's career?

The Islanders will get the offense they need and the Leafs will improve their blue line and find some space.
