Who won the week?
Fight of the week (Importance): With Gervonta Davis winning, there is still a faint hope for Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson or Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Fight of the week (Entertainment): Abass Baraou vs Macauley McGowan was a great fight as they went to battle in every round.
Fighter of the week: Gervonta Davis for his upset victory over undefeated Frank Martin.
Punch of the week: I'm going for a left hand from Davis that means it's a good night for Martin. Honorable mention in right from Jorge Garcia who finished Roarke Knapp.
Upset of the week: Liam Paro was very out of sorts against Subriel Matias.
Expected watch: Puerto Rican southpaw Yankiel Rivera 6-0 showed real class against the more experienced Victor Sandoval.
Fight Card View
Rosette: How about one shared among the lost for a change? Macauley McGowan and Jonathan Escobedo were both expected to lose. They did so, but their courage and determination refused to allow them to play the role of a compliant loser, and Baraou and Aguilar had to fight like hell to emerge victorious.
Red Card: In the WBC, which favors interim titles, the latest has been David Benavidez vs. Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Albert Puello vs. Gary Antuanne Russel for the interim titles. Obviously, the WBC doesn't want to miss out on any of the money spent on the disposal of barrels. In case you forgot, Artur Beterbiev and Devin Haney are real champions.
- It must have been a “hearts in mouth” moment for the money men when Gervonta Davis did an acrobatic somersault off the top rope in his victory celebrations.
- Several undefeated records were broken over the weekend, with Frank Martin, Gary Russell, Elijah Garcia, Richard Riakporhe, and Lerrone Richards all losing.
- It's a shame to see the cameraman already in the ring and focusing on Gervonta Davis while the referee is counting on Frank Martin.
- It seems that every fighter who participates in the fight should have his music loud and strong. Well, not all fighters. Thomas Faure's French light-heavyweight music is not good, so it was not played. Like “Ode to Joy,” maybe his shy manager hid it.
