There were plenty of options for Liam Paro, who stepped into the opposition's half to unseat the surprisingly lackluster Subriel Matias, who looked tired or unfocused. A fight in Australia could be on the cards now with a new IBF champion. Eric Armit he dissects exactly how his quest to win the title went down.
Round 1
Paro was immediately stabbing his right jab as Matias hid behind guard, allowing Paro to sneak in, landing hooks to the body. Matias threw a few jabs but Paro fired off a series from both hands.

Round 2
Matias showed more health and Paro was cautioned for taking the lead. Matias was bucking and weaving trying to get inside, but Paro was still able to jab Matias with spears and body punches. Matias landed a left hook to the body but didn't break the ring allowing Paro to land a light left straight home. Matias punched a little but was defeated by Paro.

Round 3
Matias was still using a big guard and not throwing enough punches. Paro was dancing around him going down, jabs and hooks. It was just arm punches with no power in the back and Matias was blocking most of them but only closing. At the last moment, Matias let go of his hands, fired the hooks and shot a few steel heads.

Round 4
Paro was punching and walking with Matias, who was not putting pressure on him. Paro was warned about punches to the head. Despite the pressure from Matias, Paro was able to land some “flea” punches but he overpowered the pedestrian Matias. Paro's punch was clever but he was also warned about punches to the head. Matias was not throwing punches on the way in and Paro was stepping on himself to stop him from working inside.

Round 5
Paro was throwing combinations and changing direction, then firing more punches and slipping away from Matias. The result of Paro was amazing. The punches were light and fast, and he transitioned well from head to body. Matias just followed him around the ring, rarely covering Paro and rarely throwing more than one punch at a time. Paro's movements were smart, but he was punching at a speed that would tire him out soon.

Round 6
Matias was marching forward with more intent but he had trouble catching Paro who kept moving and throwing punches and then he crushed to hit Matias inside. Matias blocked Paro for a while and scored with body hooks but Paro quickly caught up, then moved and came back to score points with accurate hooks and uppercuts. Matias closed the round with continued attacks but Paro's earlier work took the round.

Round 7
Matias was hunting Paro and he cried and when they entered the clinic, Paro received a small punch to the back of the head. The referee stopped the action and signaled a point deduction*. It was a small punch, but Paro had been warned three times.
Matias was successful in chasing Paro and was able to score with hooks and Paro not moving much or throwing many punches, but then Paro stood up and traded punches and Matias was able to find the target and had his best round.

Round 8
Paro was punching and moving and Matias just followed him without much success. When Matias approached, Paro caught again and was lucky that he did not lose a point as he has been holding all the rounds. It was punches for Paro but it worked as he threw out punches and caught Matias to stop him from working.
Paro hit another punch to the head, the referee stopped the action to warn him but did not take any further action. Matias managed to trap Paro and landed some hard hooks to the body, but it was Paro's round.

Round 9
At the start of the round, Matias attacked heavily and drove Paro to the ropes. He managed to land a few punches to the head, then Paro landed two punches in the back of the head, luckily the referee ignored them.
Paro stopped and traded with Matias and both scored but there were many catches for Paro. Mattias was in the lead, able to score with body punches as Paro was visibly tired and was throwing random punches.

Round 10
Matias was chasing Paro on the ground now Paro was hitting slowly and not throwing punches like he used to. Paro had a good spell in the middle of the round, firing quick jabs and hooks to the body. He was still running away from the hold, but he kept throwing punches and ended the round receiving consecutive punches that gave him momentum.

Round 11
Paro started by standing out on his toes, pushing his punches, but then Matias took over, landing hooks and uppercuts as he should have done in the first rounds. Paro was still throwing a few punches and the referee ignored two more punches to the back of the head. Matias finished the round with another series of hooks.

Round 12
Matias puts Paro under a lot of pressure, ducking, diving, and catching. Matias managed to shake himself and score a goal with hooks. He drove Paro into the ropes, fired a few shots, and scored again at the end of the round.

Analysis
Paro had a game plan and he stuck to it. His smart movement and hand speed it helped him take an early lead and Matias gave the rounds away with his pedestrian footwork and failure to put Paro under enough pressure until too late in the fight.
Paro was ranked No. 5 in the IBF (the fourth-ranked fighter, since there was no No. 2), he would likely be ordered to face No. 1 Richardson Hitchins but fight No. 3 Jack Catterall or No. 4 Regis Prograis. can be attractive. Matias is better than what he showed in Paro but he will have to fight hard to get another shot.
