The 10 Copa Americas playing in the Premier League's big six are worth checking out
Not to be outdone by the fun at Euro 2024, the 2024 Copa America continues as players from across North and South America battle it out for continental glory.
However, the turmoil in the Premier League is not over and clubs up and down the division are busy trying to find their next star, with scouts sent to scout a number of Copa America stars.
Here are ten big six players – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur – to watch.
Country: Columbia
Position: Striker
Chelsea are ahead of the game here, opening talks for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran before the tournament kicks off.
The 20-year-old had to settle for minutes last season under Unai Emery but will be hoping to catch the eye this summer with his Darwin Nunez-esque style of chaos on the pitch.
Villa are ready for sale and are likely to receive more bids if Duran impresses.
Country: In Argentina
Position: Attacking midfielder
Argentina's squad is full of stars and the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and a certain Lionel Messi will almost certainly make headlines, meaning 19-year-old Valentin Carboni may fly under the radar.
Despite having four years left on his contract with Inter, there is significant speculation that the attacking midfielder could move on this summer, with Monza's surprise loan move sparking plenty of rumours.
Messi himself has publicly backed Carboni to be part of Argentina's future, which should tell you all you need to know.
Country: in Chile
Position: Winger
A tall, graceful winger, Dario Osorio has long been heralded as one of South America's top young talents. The 20-year-old took a unique approach to switching from Chile to Denmark as he signed for Midtjylland, who have benefited from his talents over the past 12 months.
Not only has Osorio shown a real eye for goal, but he has impressed scouts with his willingness to work off the ball. Considering he faced questions about his attitude early in his career, it seems the youngster has turned a page in Europe.
Osorio's statistics are eye-catching and a good showing this summer could open the floodgates for a move overseas.
Country: United States
Position: Attacking midfielder
2023/24 was the breakout year for Malik Tillman, who left Bayern Munich on loan and burst onto the scene at PSV Eindhoven.
With nine goals and 11 assists in just 28 games, Tillman has shown the ability to make a real impact in the senior team, and the tall midfielder now returns to Munich wondering what's next for his future as he enters his final two years. agreement.
Comfortable in the middle and on the left wing, Tillman has a lot of pressure on his shoulders heading into the Copa America, so scouts can get a glimpse of his mental strength to match his technical quality.
Country: In Ecuador
Position: Centre-back
Willian Pacho is a 22-year-old defender who plays on the left. That's like gold dust in today's market.
Liverpool have been linked with Pacho this summer after his impressive form at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. He is comfortable on the ball and happy to start things at the back, but can also throw his powerful frame around to confuse attackers.
Pacho has four years left on his contract, but Frankfurt will not be able to resist a big bid from one of the biggest names in the Premier League.
Country: In Argentina
Position: Defensive midfielder
Guido Rodriguez is leaving Real Betis this summer and is available on a free transfer, which should of course appeal to a Premier League hotbed of PSR regulations.
At the age of 30, Rodriguez is not a long-term signing, but he comes with several years of assembling one of the strongest midfielders in La Liga.
Reports suggest Barcelona are on the verge of a move, but the Catalan club cannot compete with the wages on offer in England.
Country: In Ecuador
Position: Centre-back
Ecuador is just one big conveyor belt for future stars, but that production line has moved so fast and violently in recent years that defender Joel Ordonez has flown under the radar.
A product of the famed Independiente del Valle academy, 20-year-old Ordonez joined Club Brugge in 2022 and came into his own late last season, helping his side to another league title.
Ordonez is brave in defense and shows great potential as a full-back, and big clubs will be flocking if he does well for Ecuador.
Country: Mexico
Position: Striker
Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez is another whose name is already being sought by European officials. He scored 23 goals for Arne Slot's Feyenoord last season, finishing last campaign with 12 goals in 16 outings.
At 23, Gimenez is still a work in progress but has clear potential to develop into a top striker, and while top numbers in the Eredivisie may not translate into Premier League success, there's no reason to believe the Mexican star wouldn't. I scored goals for England players.
The key now, is how Gimenez copes with the system apart from that of the new Liverpool manager. If he's still scoring goals it might be time to go.
Country: Brazil
Position: Midfielder
Ederson has been linked with a number of top clubs in 2024, and Liverpool have also been touted as potential suitors – perhaps because the Reds have seen first-hand just how good the Atalanta man can be this season.
A versatile midfielder who is free at both ends of the pitch, Ederson does not fit the usual Brazilian mould, but he has proved too good to ignore and deserved his international debut earlier this year.
Ederson, 24, is ready to step straight into the top-flight midfielder and will be hoping to prove that point in the coming weeks.
Country: Brazil
Position: He has a goalkeeper
Life as a Brazilian goalkeeper not named Alisson or Ederson is tough. Bento has been impressing in the country's top competition for the past few years but, understandably, is nowhere near starting for the Selecao.
His limited minutes mean that Bento's good shooting and distribution remains a mystery. The 25-year-old is undoubtedly ready for a move to Europe and could easily help the likes of Liverpool or City, both of whom could be in need of a new goalkeeper this summer.
Scouts may have to work harder to spot Bento, but the Athletico Paranaense stopper is worth the effort.
