Tyler Denny continued his improbable run with his best win to date.

The reigning middleweight was forced to settle for a technical decision win when a cut left Felix Cash unable to continue. The ringside doctor ruled Cash unable to continue at the start of the fifth round due to a cut on his right eyelid.

Judges Lee Every (49-47), Victor Loughlin (49-47) and Kevin Parker (49-46) all called for Denny. The win saw Denny retain his European middleweight title on their DAZN main event on Saturday from the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England.

“I'm buzzing. I was hitting him,” Denny told DAZN/Matchroom's Jamie Ward. “He would not have continued. He was tired after two rounds.”

Cash has not fought since December 2022 with an eight round victory over Celso Neves. The order battle was almost disastrous for the undefeated Brit, who came off a scheduled fight with Austin 'Ammo' Williams.

Reports of problems outside the ring left Cash and the job inactive for a long time. He struggled to make the 160-pound limit, as he needed two attempts to reach the point on Friday. True to his unusual form, Cash then shoves Denny while he looks at the mail.

Denny found the right time for his return.

The 32-year-old southpaw-promoted BOXXER from nearby Rowley Regis has consistently beaten Cash. Cash quickly fell into the hole but managed to find his width.

Cash enjoyed a strong fourth until he was tagged late with a left hand. Denny came in and finished but ran out of time as the bell rang to end the round. During that time, Cash was forced to deal with a deep hole in his right eye.

Replays revealed that the wound was caused by Denny's left hand. However, it was found to be the cause of an accidental headbutt, which sent the verdict to the jury.

“I am the man. The way it was happening, he was gone,” stressed Denny who went up to 19-2-3 (1 win). “I think he was [relieved] when the referee stops it. Put respect in my name.”

Cash (16-1, 10 KOs) suffered the first loss of his career and is now at a crossroads.

“Tyler was well prepared. It's a good story. It didn't work for Felix Cash,” commented Eddie Hearn, whose Matchroom Boxing currently promotes Cash. “Eighteen months without a ring, and not living a life paid the price.”

Denny extended his incredible three-year undefeated streak. The fight was his seventh against an undefeated opponent, all within his previous nine fights.

That run began with his last loss, a ten-round decision on Nov. 2019 to Linus Udolfa. He then sat idle for 19 months before returning with a vengeance.

The only setback among his past seven fights was a November 2021 draw with then-undefeated River Wilson-Bent. Denny earned a split decision in their June 2022 rematch and has been flying high ever since.

He began his three-fight 2023 campaign with a ten-round decision over Brad Pauls (16-0 at the time) last February. It was his sixth fight in a row against an undefeated opponent. Denny followed that up with a ten-round decision over veteran Macaulay McGowan (20-5-2, 5 KOs) last May 6 at the same venue.

His year ended with an eighth-round stoppage of Matteo Signani last November 18 due to his lone career stoppage.

Now comes the part where he tests the water on earth.

“You have to put my name in the conversation, those world title fights,” Denny insisted. “Hard work pays off. Just believe in yourself.”
