England predicted to face Slovenia

Most fans were critical of Gareth Southgate's England Euro 2024, however, the Three Lions defeated Slovenia to win Group C.

England face lower-quality opposition in this summer's tournament after a poor performance in Matchday 2 against Denmark. While Serbia failed to punish England's second-half backsliding, Southgate's side were made to pay after grabbing another goal in Frankfurt.

Still, four points from their opening two games represents a good return and a draw could be enough on Tuesday to top Group C depending on what happens between Serbia and Denmark. England, however, need a win and a lot of improvement to continue their push for the knockout stages.

Here's how England could line up their Group C match against Slovenia at Euro 2024.

GK: Jordan Pickford – England's defense have done an excellent job of restricting their opponents from long range attempts so far, although Pickford lost to a Morten Hjulmand piledriver last time out.

RB: Kyle Walker – Walker played a key role in England's opening game against Denmark and is a player who will not be left out of the starting XI.

CB: John Stones – The horrors of 2022/23 are undoubtedly long overdue, but the Man City defender will not lose his place at Euro 2024.

CB: Marc Guehi – Guehi followed up his excellent performance against Serbia with a strong performance in Frankfurt. The Crystal Palace defender will be aiming to maintain his good form in Cologne by ruling out the popular Benjamin Sesko.

LB: Kieran Trippier – There were a few concerns over Trippier's condition for Tuesday's game, with the left-back suffering from a few niggles. Luke Shaw also trained for the first time on Monday but Trippier is still expected to start against Slovenia.

CM: Conor Gallagher – Trent Alexander-Arnold's second-half substitution against Denmark foreshadowed Southgate's plans for Matchday 3. The Liverpool defender will be replaced in the starting XI by Gallagher, who has made two appearances for the player in the competition so far. Chelsea provide plenty of power but will not change England's possession game.

CM: Declan Rice – Rice produced one of his worst performances in an England shirt on Matchday 2 and will be eager to put on his best performance in Cologne.

RW: Bukayo Saka – The Arsenal player flashed his brilliance in England's opening two games and will once again feature as the Three Lions' right-back with Southgate, despite his team's struggles, unlikely to make any changes to his attack.

AM: Jude Bellingham – Bellingham was out of the woods last week playing the opening game of the tournament against Serbia. Supporters want to see the 20-year-old working alongside Rice in depth, but Gallagher's inclusion will see the Real Madrid star continue to work at the top.

LW: Phil Foden – After struggling on Matchday 1, Foden offered glimmers against Denmark after drifting in the midfield. However, England's left-backs have struggled, and this feels like a game where Anthony Gordon will eventually be needed.

ST: Harry Kane – Kane was defiant when he was criticized before Tuesday's game. England's all-time top scorer scored his first goal of the tournament against Denmark but was criticized for going too deep amid personal laziness. Let's see how he responds in Cologne.
