Hatton hosts LIV Golf's first title – Golf News

Tyrrell Hatton picked up his first win since 2020 when he won by six shots at the latest LIV Golf League event.

Hatton cruised to victory on Sunday at LIV Golf Nashville in Tennessee, shooting a final-round 65 at The Grove for a six-shot victory over Sam Horsfield.

Hatton's win ended a drought going back to the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March 2022 when the 32-year-old wondered if he would ever return to the winner's circle.

“Going 31/2 years without a win, you wonder if you can do it again,” said Hatton, who joined LIV Golf at the end of January. “It's a very special feeling to win again. A three-shot lead is not an easy thing to go out and play with because you know the boys will be trying to chase you,” said Hatton, who ended up being the key in the final. I got off to a good start and that made me feel comfortable.”

Hatton's Legion XIII captain, Jon Rahm, did not doubt Hatton's ability when he brought him to LIV Golf as his best running partner for his new expansion team. As it happened, Hatton beat Rahm to the team's first title.

“For all those who don't know how good Tyrrell Hatton is, this is the definitive proof,” said Rahm, who finished tied for third place with four points. “I think today shows how good he can be. Obviously, it is not easy to win, and to win 6 in three rounds is very surprising.”

Legion XIII won the team event thanks to Hatton's win and team captain Jon Rahm taking third place.

The team battle was very competitive, though Legion XIII came out with a 10-stroke advantage in the early stages. At one point, their lead was changed to within four strokes, which if all the points were counted, would disappear quickly.

But with all four Legion players shooting below par, they never opened the door for any chasers. The closest competition was two furlongs away, with Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC taking second and Torque edging out Majestics GC for third.
