Sultan Zaurbek destroys Reynoso in one; Bastida and Oyeleye take care of business

Lucien Bastida Won TKO 8 Nahuel Gonzalo
Bastida stops Gonzalo in the eighth round of the Argentine title defense. Bastida was letting his fists fly right from the start. The tall southpaw Gonzalo was using his jab to push Bastida and he was landing a heavy left to the body.
Bastida went on the offensive early in the second, landing a flurry of shots on both hands, but was cut over the left eye when their heads collided. Bastida was using Gonzalo, getting in close to score with hooks and uppercuts and by the fifth Gonzalo had a serious injury under his right eye.
Gonzalo came alive at the end of the seventh and was hitting sweeping hooks to the body but now he had swelling in both eyes. In the eighth, blood started pouring down Bastida's face from a cut over his left eye.
He just crossed the right line and hit Gonzalo and crossed the ring, connecting with lefts and rights until Gonzalo was lying against the ropes with his arms down and his head cut off by Gonzalo's punches, the fight was stopped. This was Bastida's first defense. Gonzalo had won his last two fights.

Faroukh Kourbanov Won PTS 10 Diego Lagos
Kourbanov dusts off Lagos by unanimous decision. In his first fight in sixteen months, Kourbanov won 100-90 on all three cards. Kyrgyzstan-born Kourbanov dropped a majority decision against Joe Cordina in 2021 but was nominated by Zelfa Barrett to challenge for the European title in 2022. Colombian Lagos was knocked out in five rounds by Spaniard Salvador Jimenez in April.

Yusuf Sultanoglu Won TKO 5 Rashad Karimov
Sultanoglu of Germany wins the vacant WBC International Silver title by stoppage over Karimov. Sultanoglu knocked Karimov down three times in the fifth to force a stoppage. Ninth win by KO/TKO for Sultanoglu. Azeri-born German Karimov, 40, is 11-1 in his last 12 fights, losing to Cuban Mike Perez in October.
Luka Plantic W TKO 1 Almir Skrijelj
If Plantic was hoping to get in some crying time, then this was a waste of time, as he stopped the Montenegrin Skrijelj midway through the first round. Plantic had suspended Jack Cullen in April. This was Skrijelj's tenth defeat in the distance.
Dilara Yucel W KO 1 Sonja Pilipovic
Turkish “She Wolf” Yucel knocks out Bosnian Pilipovic in an embarrassing match. The WBF title holder gets his eleventh win by KO/TKO. Pilipovic, who holds the spot, has lost 14 of 15 fights by KO/TKO including 7 in the first round.

Federico Schinina Won PTS 10 Mohammed Graich
Local fighter Schinina wins the vacant Italian title with a points victory over Graich in an amateur match. Schinina had the edge in skill and speed and held off the aggressive Graich to build an early lead. Graich kept coming and pressing and even with his brilliant defensive work, Schinina often found himself on the ropes and Graich looked to close the scoring gap.
Schinina then took over in the ninth and tenth and came out again with a score of 96-94 twice and 97-93. Argentinian native Schinina had lost the national super-lightweight title last August but moved up to super welterweight and won twice. The Moroccan-born Graich had won his last three fights.

Jeo Santisima WON KO 4 Arnon Yupang
Santisima defeats Thai Yupang in the fourth round. Santisima was in control right from the start with heavy punches to the head and body. Yupang tried to hit Santisima but was weakened by body punches and when another body punch dropped him in the fourth, he was counted out.
Santisima wins the WBA Asian Continental title. He put together a 17-fight winning streak before losing to Emanuel Navarrete for the WBO title in 2020, but four losses in five fights have completely derailed him. Yupang was defending this title for the first time.
June 22 in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
Emeka Nwokolo W PTS 12 Jeovanis Barraza
Nwokolo of Nigeria surpasses Barraza of Colombia and takes two titles. Nwokolo punched smartly against the tall Colombian player. He countered well and Barraza tried to work with the back foot, Nwokolo quickly scored and went out before Barraza could respond. Nwokolo made a big push and used Barraza in round after round to come away with a comfortable win of 120-108 twice and 118-110.
Nwokolo has fought hard in Colombia and Mexico. He wins the vacant title of NABA and Universal Boxing Organization. Barraza was 20-0 against the opposition, but stepping up to face a higher level resulted in a very unimpressive 3-4 record.

Oluwafemi Oyeleye WIN TKO 4 Leonardo Di Stefano
Oyeleye from Nigeria puts Di Stefano down to take fourth place. Oyeleye had been punching back, using a long time to collect points. Di Stefano continued to move forward, jumping on the body but without much success.
As Di Stefano came forward again for the fourth time, a short left hook caused him to stagger, then he fell to his hands and knees and continued to grind face first into the canvas and the referee immediately stopped the fight. 10th KO/TKO victory for Oyeleye.
June 21 at Bolton Whites Hotel, Bolton, UK
Sultan Zaurbek WON TKO 1 Roman Ruben Reynoso
Kazakh southpaw Zaurbek stopped Reynoso by scoring three goals in 101 seconds. Reynoso came out, head down, throwing vicious punches and when Zaurbek sidestepped, Reynoso swept off his own and landed on the canvas.
He picked himself up and threw the green swings again. Zaurbek lands a left to the body. Reynoso knelt on the canvas and watched the count, then spit out his mouth guard to get a few more seconds. When the action resumed, a left to the body sent Reynoso to his knees on the canvas again.
While the count continued Zaurbek was on the ropes in the corner celebrating, but Reynoso beat the count. A right to the body put him down again and the referee stopped the fight. This was ridiculous and it's ridiculous that Zaurbek should win the vacant WBA Continental title in a fight like this. 13 wins by KO/TKO for Zaurbek, who deserves better opposition.
June 21 in Vigevano, Italy
Mirko Geografo Drew PTS 12 Luigi Alfieri
Geografo and Alfieri ended their battle for the vacant European Silver title. In the opening rounds Alfieri's relentless aggression had Geografo fighting on the back foot. He was boxing well, but Alfieri was switching his attacks from head to body and was well ahead after five rounds. Geografo slowly moved into the middle fight and used his better skills to take out Alfieri who was fading and the judges couldn't split them with all three cards reading 114-114, so they would have to do it again. .
Veronica Tosi WON PTS 10 Natalia Francesca
Hometown fighter Tosi wins the vacant European title as she beats Spain's Francesca. The visitor was competitive in the first three rounds, but then pressure and aggression from Tosi put her in control and Francesca's best effort in the last round came too late. Scored 98-92 twice and 97-93. Tosi's third win in a row. Previously, Francesca did not succeed in shooting for the European feather belt.
June 21 in Detroit, Michigan, USA
Derick Miller Jr W TKO 2 Brian Houston
Local prospect Miller drops Houston in two rounds. Miller dropped Houston in the first round and again in the second and Houston scored a second knockout. Ninth win by KO/TKO for Miller. He won the vacant American Boxing Federation title. Houston, 43, had his first fight since February 2022.
