On the trails in Western Australia

The Cape to Cape course passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in Australia's south-west region. This isn't a point-to-point race, so you can base yourself on a spot to stay and head to each stage as needed. Margaret River is a popular destination but there are many options in the larger area.

Each Cape to Cape section offers its own unique challenges and rewards, promising an unforgettable adventure for riders of all skill levels. The organizers from Cape Town went to Cape Town and ensured that each section was able to be completed by hand cyclists, with diversions as needed.

First stage – Cape Leeuwin

The Cape to Cape adventure begins under the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse, where the Indian and Southern Oceans collide in a spectacular display of natural beauty. It is also the place where riders from the east, west, south and north of the continent collide, ready to submit their bids for the event to lead the first stage.

But don't worry if that's not why you're here, the wave is starting to mean that those who run for sheep stations can do just that, without causing noise to those who are there for information and a personal challenge.

The trails here boast stunning coastal views, rock outcroppings, and technical descents that will test your skills from the get-go.

Second stage – Nannup

For the first time, Cape to Cape will head inland to Nannup and the Tank 7 mountain bike park, a destination that has quickly gained popularity with mountain bikers across the west. Moving inland means meandering rivers, and rolling hills define this beautiful area. The trails at Nannup offer a refreshing change of scenery, with fast-flowing singletrack, multiple build features and exhilarating descents that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. We've heard that some of the world's best course designers are involved in planning this section, and we think this could be the best course of the entire four days. So make sure you're ready!

Stage Three – Margaret River

Margaret River is the beating heart from Cape Town to Cape Town. Famous for its world-class wine, delicious food, and stunning coastline, Margaret River is a true Western Australian gem. Here, the Cape to Cape course takes riders through tall karri forests, past tall vineyards, and coastal cliffs. A feast for the senses, every twist and turn reveals a new vista to marvel at.

Expect long berms of hard-packed red dirt, new trails in the field, huge features built to test your mettla, flat trails near the river and fast and loose descents that will keep you on your toes. With three stages done and just one to go, it's a great day to sit back and enjoy Saturday

in the afternoon behind the stage – and your accommodation may be close at hand. So sit back and soak it all in!

Section Four – Cape Naturaliste

As you approach the final leg of your journey to Cape Town, the trails around the Cape Naturaliste provide a fitting end to your Cape to Cape journey. Walk through ancient forests, past secluded beaches, and climb challenging hills that will push you to your limits. Zone 6 and golf courses are designed to cut and dive, often with multiple lane options so you can prepare for the crowds or take a fast lane at speed. You can expect fast trail conditions and close racing for those at the end of the point.

As you approach the finish line, take a moment to take in the spectacular view of Geographe Bay—a fitting reward for your hard work and dedication.

A celebration of Mountain Biking and Camaraderie

More than just a race, the Cape Town to Cape Town cycling event is a celebration of everything that makes cycling great. From the moment you reach the start line, you will be swept up in the excitement and energy of the event, surrounded by other riders who share your passion for adventure and exploration.

Throughout the four days of the race, you'll push yourself to the top, tackle challenging terrain, conquer climbs, and plan heart-pounding descents with confidence and skill. But no matter how difficult the trail is, you'll find encouragement and support from other riders, as well as the enthusiastic crowds that come to the track to cheer you on. Also, it's not a bad place to spend some time relaxing and socializing after each stage.

And when the ride is done for the day, the fun just begins. It is an opportunity to rest, relax, and exchange stories with other passengers, building friendships that will last forever.

Places to stay in the South West

While Cape to Cape may be the most attractive destination, the south-western region of Western Australia offers a wealth of sights and things to explore during your visit.

From the rugged coastline of Cape Leeuwin, the limestone caves, the sparkling coastline and the towering forests of Manjimup, there is no shortage of natural wonders to be discovered. Take a break from the bike and ride through the ancient forests, or simply relax on the pristine beaches and soak up the sun.

For food and wine lovers, Margaret River is paradise. Indulge your taste buds with world-class wines, delicious food, and fresh local produce, all against a backdrop of beautiful vineyards and rolling hills.

And let's not forget about wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos roaming the jungle, dolphins playing in the waves, and whales breaching the shore. Western Australia is home to world famous wildlife.
