Martine Gaillard: ”We've heard Jake Guentzel's name being linked to Vancouver for a while now. Can the Canucks finally do that?”

Kypreos: “Well, they are trying. We know that and in a perfect world, I think Jake Guentzel could easily reach $9 million from the Vancouver Canucks on a seven-year deal.

The question is where are the other 10 or 12 teams that have shown interest in Jake Guentzel? And one of them is his old club in Carolina. They are still in the middle.

One advantage Carolina has over the Vancouver Canucks is that they can offer an eighth year and lower AAV. So I think Jake's number would probably be $63 to $64 million. And the question is, is Carolina in a position to give him eight times compared to nine (millions) seven times (years) of Vancouver?

NHL Rumors: Jake Guentzel and the Sleeper Teams

So it may be in Jake Guentzel, Jake where he sees his future. But Carolina, still very much in it, but not to the point where I think they are committed at the moment to match maybe the contribution of Vancouver but Canuck fans, you are in it. It could be a two, two horse race here. We'll see how this goes over the weekend.”
