Chelsea plan to steal an ace who will be as influential as Palmer for Maresca
There are no two ways about it; Chelsea's Cole Palmer has certainly earned the honor of being the best signing of the 2023/24 season.
The versatile striker arrived at Stamford Bridge for just £40m from Manchester City, and today, he is one of the most talented strikers in England.
In just over 29 Premier League appearances, the Englishman scored an insane 22 goals and provided 11 assists, earning him the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
Under new manager Enzo Maresca, his progress will continue, but there is a Blues target who could be as influential as the number 20 next season.
Chelsea want to strengthen the midfield
According to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are keen on signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The midfielder looked like he had completed his move to Brighton & Hove Albion in a swap deal with Jakub Moder, with Romano revealing that a medical was booked for the two, having agreed on a swap deal recently.
However, Chelsea appear to have made a last-ditch effort to poach him from the Seagulls, as they have launched their own inquiry – with another update from Romano revealing that a deal involving Brighton and Moder is now falling through.
Dewsbury-Hall could be as influential as Palmer
When Maresca joined Leicester City ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, he was given the difficult task of reviving the club and returning it to the top flight.
Not only did he achieve both of these goals, but he exceeded all expectations, and the one player he made a monster of was Dewsbury-Hall, who was “very good”, as journalist Ben Jacobs called him.
The Foxes midfielder has been a key player in the Italian system, operating as a left winger in a 4-3-3 in 44 Championship appearances.
However, it was the freedom of attack that took the 25-year-old's game to the next level, as he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists.

There is no doubt about it; that midfielder's record is awe-inspiring, and offers thrills similar to those of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who scored 211 goals for the Blues.
It is expected that at Chelsea, Maresca will use the same method that brought him success at Leicester, therefore, the signature of Dewsbury-Hall is required.
Like Palmer, the England international has been the catalyst for many attacking situations for the Foxes, as his creative stats have shown before, and for that reason alone, he could be as influential as Palmer.
Another reason why he could have the same impact is that he would operate on the left, and with Palmer playing on the other side, Chelsea would have a more balanced attacking setup, making them less available.
All in all, the signing of Dewsbury-Hall would not have given the Blues confidence in their seats, but neither did Palmer's arrival last summer.
