Chelsea manager Maresca is not in favor of signing the Premier League striker

There is a need for a new striker at Chelsea and it is widely known that they want to bring in a new striker this summer.

Their choice of Nicolas Jackson in attack does not bode well for new manager Enzo Maresca, who is searching the market for a striker who can compliment his footballing philosophy.

The Blues have been linked with the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen but there have been no moves there and interest in the attacking duo is not strong yet.

Chelsea have held talks with Aston Villa to sign Colombian striker Jhon Duran and have reportedly reached an agreement.

However, according to journalist Guillermo Arango, Chelsea boss Maresca is not in favor of this signing and wants someone else to lead his attack next season.

He said: “On hold” is the transfer of Jhon Durán to Chelsea. Despite the agreement between the clubs, the new coach Enzo Maresca is looking for a striker with other characteristics and the Colombian player is currently signed with offers from other clubs (AC Milan, Bologna).

The Blues enjoy a healthy relationship with Aston Villa, who recently signed defender Ian Maatsen from the Stamford Bridge outfit.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Duran and whether Maresca will agree to allow him to join the team.

Jhon Duran's move to Chelsea is on hold for now.

Chelsea are looking for a new striker this summer

The Aston Villa striker could be a cheap option for the likes of Toney, Osimhen or the recently linked Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

It makes sense for the Chelsea manager to make his intentions clear to the club about the type of striker he wants.

Getting the manager involved in the transfer business and giving him the authority to make new signings is very much needed at Stamford Bridge, especially after how things ended with former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
