Germany's Euro 2024 Last 16 match against Denmark was suspended in the first half due to a lightning storm.
The score was tied 0-0 after 35 minutes at the Westfalenstadion when referee Michael Oliver decided to stop the game and send the players off the field.
Storms were predicted for Dortmund later on Saturday night and Sunday morning, but they arrived earlier than expected and brought disruption to the game.
Heavy rain and hail fell while loud thunder was heard and lightning was seen on the field.
The players retreated to the touchlines first before being told to take shelter in their dressing rooms.
UEFA's rule of thumb is that if lightning strikes within 10 miles, a 30-minute delay will apply. There is, however, no set protocol.
The rain soon subsided and the game was able to resume shortly after the suspension.
Germany had started the game well when the conditions were dry. Nico Schlotterbeck had the ball in the Denmark net after four minutes, but the goal was denied by Joshua Kimmich to Andreas Skov Olsen.
The hosts had the better of the first half but Denmark had chances of their own through Christian Eriksen and Joakim Maehle and were in the game just before the game was halted.
The winners of this match will face Spain or Georgia in the quarter-finals.
