Joshua's Intimidation Tactics Fail Against Confident Dubois

Anthony Joshua's attempts to intimidate IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois failed when they went head-to-head on DAZN to promote their September 21 PPV fight at Wembley Stadium. Dubois was unfazed by Joshua's two attempts to engage him in their conversation.

Joshua's Loss of Stability

According to analyst Ade Oladipo, Team Dubois will be happy that Daniel is independent from working with two-time heavyweight champion Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs).

Joshua, 34, watched Dubois during his interview and said he can't wait to fight him. AJ's look at Dubois appeared to be an attempt to elicit a humble, horrified reaction from the 26-year-old.

If Joshua can get the better of them mentally in their actions, he can continue to put Dubois in one spot. AJ can use that to dominate him when they meet on September 21st.

“I've seen comments where they say, 'Joshua tried to abuse him, Dubois didn't accept it.' However, he wants to take it. Dubois stood up for himself, and that was that [Daniel’s trainer] Don [Charles] you want to see,” Ade Oladipo said on Secondsout about last week's face-to-face interview between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois when AJ tried to scare him.

Joshua lost control when Dubois defended himself, which led to AJ warning him about hitting him with a chair. It's unlikely Joshua will stoop to that level, but it appears to be a last-ditch effort to scare him.

Daniel's Team Reaction

“That's what we want to see with Dubois,” said Ade. “'I don't accept that. You can't talk to me but you want to talk to me. I am the champion. I am top seven or top eight now. I am here not because the British public forced me into office. I put myself in the position by beating Filip Hrgovic. So, I hit the boogeyman.'”

If Joshua keeps up his intimidating stares and tough talk, he might need to take acting classes if he wants to scare Dubois. What he's doing now isn't working, and it won't. Dubois is very confident based on his impressive performances against Filip Hrgovic, Jarrell Miller, and Oleksandr Usyk.

I probably have a feeling that Don and Frank will be happy as well as Daniel's dad. We know that Daniel's father also had a big part in it. You are probably thinking, 'Yes, my son will not be afraid.' Dubois' team will be very happy,” said Ade.
