In the examination | The 2024 GasGas ECC & MXC range is coming to Australia!
Hailing from Spain, GasGas is a car brand that falls under the same umbrella as KTM and Husqvarna. Although best known for its gas-powered dirt bikes raced at the end of motocross and enduro competitions, GasGas jumped into the world of electric mountain bikes back in 2021 with a wide range of full-suspension e-MTBs.
The range has evolved over the past few years with the most recent arrivals being the MXC and ECC. The latter has been making quite a splash at the e-Enduro World Cup, with its distinctive profile and bright red paint job making it hard to miss.
Rather than the usual open mold designs, the MXC and ECC use a unique frame that incorporates damper technology from another shocker in the dirt bike world; WP configuration. GasGas is also one of the first brands to be offered with a SRAM Powertrain, and its prices across the range are incredibly competitive.
With stock due to arrive in Australia in the coming months, we were lucky enough to get our hands on the ECC 6 test bike to see what it's all about.
Rating of the company GasGas ECC
GasGas ECC is the biggest and hottest e-MTB available in the Spanish brand. Specially designed for flat enduro racing on steep and rugged terrain, the ECC has 29in wheels, 170mm fork travel and 160mm of rear travel.
Developed with engineering input from Kiska Design (an independent design agency owned by the same parent company as GasGas, KTM and Husqvarna), the full carbon frame includes a removable plastic protective cover and a metal skid plate under the engine.
The top two models use DVO suspension with an Onyx air-sprung fork and a JadeX coil shock. Both ends feature WP's patented Cone Valve technology that aims to provide support and ride height with high-speed airflow on hard blows.
SRAM Powertrain
At the heart of the GasGas ECC is the SRAM Powertrain. The Brose-sourced engine pumps out 90Nm of peak torque, and is powered by a 630Wh battery chosen for its weight and width balance. You can recharge the battery using a hole in the seat tube, although it is also removable from the downtube if you don't have a power point where you store your bike.
If you need more juice, SRAM offers an optional 250Wh extender battery that increases the total to 780Wh.
Battery status is displayed via a neat screen integrated into the top tube of the frame. This gives you key information including which assist mode you're in, and can be customized with the SRAM AXS app. Here you can also tune the motor support feature, change the functionality of each button on the Pod Controllers, and adjust the parameters of the Auto Shift feature.
GasGas ECC geometry & size chart
There are only three sizes available for the GasGas ECC range; Small, Medium and Large.
Since the ECC is a race-oriented bike, the geometry is on the tall side to increase stability on steep climbs and descents at high speeds. You'll get a head angle of 64°, a seat tube angle of 76° and 475mm of reach on the Medium frame.
The number one available is the rear center length of 461mm. That's one of the longest rims we've seen on a recent e-MTB, and we're curious to see how that will play out on the trail.
It is worth noting that no flip chips will be found in the ECC frame, and therefore it is not recommended to be set as a mullet. If you're after a hybrid wheel setup, you'll have to look to the slightly shorter-travel MXC (more on that below).
GasGas ECC price & specs
There are three models in the 2024 GasGas ECC range with prices starting at $11,899 AUD for the ECC 4. They will be available at most bike shops and car dealers nationwide, with stock arriving in Spring 2024.
Each model shares the same full carbon chassis and SRAM Powertrain, and all are equipped with coilover shocks and a Maxxis Assegai/Minion DHR II wheel combo.
The bike we found in testing is the top model; ECC 6. The bike looks really good with its bold paint job, molded frame protection and white coil spring, but how does it compare to the best e-MTBs on the market? Stay tuned for our in-depth review and video coming soon!

Overview of GasGas MXC
Sitting below the ECC, the GasGas MXC is a slightly shorter ride.
It also has a full carbon frame built around a SRAM Powertrain motor and a 630Wh battery. The suspension drops to 160mm at the front and 140mm out back. The MXC also features a mullet setup with a 27.5in rear wheel that allows for very short chainstays.
We think it's a good-looking bike that will be a more attractive option for everyday mountain bikers compared to the more race-focused ECC.
