Social media reacts to LeBron James returning to Los Angeles: 'The Lakers are still rebuilding'
LeBron James agreed to sign a two-year, $104 million contract with Los Angeles Lakers, and will get his wish to play alongside his son Bronny. However, a large contract will challenge the team in terms of program development if it does not fit under the second apron.
Check out the initial reactions from social media following the news.
I forgot D'Angelo Russell has an impossible $700K bonus.
Therefore, the Lakers are actually about $12M more than the first apron and $1.2M more than the second apron.
And Bronny James can sign above the rookie minimum, with the Second Round Pick Exception.
TL/DR: The Lakers are over…

this means that the Lakers are probably trying to make a trade for someone where they combine salary (Jerami Grant? Cam Johnson?), and if they can get one out, LeBron will take a little bit to be able to put it under the second apron.

remember at the trade deadline… when Lakers fans were DEMANDING for Pelinka to be ROBBED… ANY move… and he said it was better to pat him at that point in time… because they had 3 FRPs available to try hard to improve the team this summer… here we are now pic.twitter.com/aanRCnFYDM

This 2 way Lakers were talking was always bs.
No one is “contending” while “building the future” at the same time, effectively.
One OR BOTH lanes end up suffering.
The Lakers are in rebuilding mode. They just don't want to tell the truth about it.

There is really no way to express how bad this has been for Rob Pelinka and the Lakers.
