Paul Rich Defends Zach LaVine as Trade Rumors Get Bad

Zach LaVine's agent Rich Paul has already defended himself after reports surfaced of a strained relationship between him and the Bulls.

There has been a rumored rift between LaVine and Chicago for several seasons now.

The Bulls are reportedly taking calls from any franchise to try to get rid of LaVine's massive, five-year, $215 million contract that he signed after the 2021-22 season.

LaVine's agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, has heard the rumors and is unhappy with the way his client is being portrayed.

“I want to make this clean and clear: This whole idea that Zach was not working in this situation is false,” Paul said by phone Thursday. “This boy played badly. He represents the franchise and the class. A lot has happened during his time with the Bulls and he always takes the high road. “Does every player get frustrated at times? Yes. But Zach has been a top professional and deserves the best.

“The Bulls have business to do. And we let them run their business.”

Paul's comments after Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times he said the relationship between LaVine and the Bulls had broken down.

“LaVine and his representation at Klutch Sports feel like they were misled in the trade, and the Bulls thinking LaVine 'choosing' season-ending right foot surgery while rehabbing the injury was a counterpunch thrown under the belt. ,” Cowley wrote.

The insider also says that if the Bulls can't trade LaVine, it would be a nightmare for the front office.

“Even if there is a situation where LaVine is not moved and he goes back to the Bulls, he will do that in a locker room that will welcome him, but the front office and the ownership group take that as a worst-case scenario,” Cowley. said.
