Euro 2024: Spain v France

Game preview

Spain and France will enter the semi final of Euro 2024 tomorrow night in a different way.

Spain have beaten everything in front of them so far with a young squad that looks strong at the back, with the quality of Rodri and Fabian Ruiz in midfield and the attack of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal on the wings. They also have plenty of grit, as shown on Friday when they overcame the disappointment of conceding an 89th-minute goal against Germany to advance to the tournament hosts thanks to Mikel Merino's header in extra time.

Left-back Marc Cucurella has been key to Spain's fortunes defensively and offensively and the Chelsea man believes Luis de la Fuente's side can improve.

He told UEFA.com: “Very few people gave us a chance and staying under the radar helped us start the tournament with confidence. Spain is a team to be respected. I knew we had a great team and that's how it happened. One week to go and the best is yet to come.”

France will arrive in Munich in a very precarious position. Didier Deschamps' men are still yet to score in an open game in the tournament and again looked toothless in attack when they faced Portugal in the quarter-finals.

Kylian Mbappe is reportedly still suffering from a broken nose three weeks ago and Antoine Griezmann is in despair over suggestions he could be ruled out.

France striker Randal Kolo Muani is hoping to retain his starting position and will once again provide the power to extinguish himself. He said: “The games will be very difficult. Spain is one of the best teams in this tournament, playing very good football. We love big games. We will be ready on Tuesday.”
