Liverpool are reportedly preparing to breach their wage base to complete the signing of young star player Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea.
Ngumoha, 15, has long been regarded as one of the most talented players in his squad and was a regular feature for Chelsea's Under-18s last season, despite not turning 16 until later this month.
As he approaches the end of his academy contract, Chelsea tried to tie Ngumoha to a new deal but Fabrizio Romano he revealed that he chose to take his talents to Liverpool.
Such is the excitement surrounding Ngumoha, Liverpool are expected to break the salary cap at their academy to convince the attacking midfielder to sign.
Chelsea have lost another hot prospect this summer, with 16-year-old midfielder Ryan McAidoo heading to Manchester City.
The owners of Chelsea have been continuously monitored for their management of school graduates, many of whom have been considered a commodity due to the “clean profit” from the sale of the young star.
Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall have already been sold this summer, while Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja are all available for transfer as Chelsea look to raise as much cash as possible to avoid any breach of the Profit rules. & Sustainability.
Last summer saw the release of Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi, helping Chelsea finance a number of expensive young players from overseas.
Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian, both attacking midfielder-winger hybrids, will join next summer for a combined fee of around £70m.
Chelsea have also said goodbye to two influential figures in the club's recent success. Neil Bath and Jim Fraser, credited with creating one of Europe's greatest youth systems over the past two decades, are also leaving the club this summer.
