Steph Curry Gets Real About Losing Klay Thompson

Steph Curry spoke candidly about losing his Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, during free agency.

Over the past 13 seasons, Steph and Klay have been a formidable team on the court.

Together with Draymond Green, these three players have won four titles with the Warriors and Curry hopes that they will be able to see their careers together.

“I always wanted to go off into the sunset with those two guys and have a chance to stay relevant by winning,” Curry told reporters following USA Basketball's practice.

He added, “It's sad. It's one of those that's hard to do because I never thought this would be true. “

Klay signed with Dallas during free agency, following months of frosty opposition with Golden State. The sides couldn't agree on terms last year for an extension, and couldn't work out a free agent deal this summer.

“Obviously, I knew a lot of what was going on and I was trying to make sure that Klay had the right support in terms of making the right decision for him. And that's what it came down to,” Curry explained.

“He needed a change, and no, it was not a situation where I realized that I should try to convince him because he knew exactly what he meant and what he still means to our organization, to me as a colleague (and) to Draymond. It's one of those deals where you have to trust that you're making the right decision. “And I just want him to be happy. At the end of the day, he deserves it. You deserve to be able to enjoy playing basketball no matter how long you want to play. It's surprising that it won't be with us. “

Things won't be the same for the Dubs without Thompson.
