Chelsea and Todd Boehly will make another move to sign the striker, after their initial bid of £34 million was rejected.

Chelsea are aiming to sign a new striker this summer

The west Londoners, after relying heavily on Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson in their exits last season, are believed to be in the market for a number 9 as Enzo Maresca looks for a new focal point for the club.

West Londoners are following the left now.

Palmer and Jackson scored a combined 42 goals between them in all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino last season, but Maresca has made it clear he wants another striker at Chelsea to compete with.

Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, while Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been under pressure from Chelsea recently, according to reliable sources such as Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Isak would be a great addition, but with the PSR deadline passed and the Swede costing north of £100 million, it would be a very tough move to pull off – as would Osimhen given the Nigerian's £110 million release clause.

Top-class strikers tend to come at a premium, so Chelsea will need to be careful how much they spend, considering their spending spree this summer and PSR's limitations.

Co-directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley have been looking for the best solution for Chelsea, and another striker they have recently turned to is Atletico Madrid's Samu Omorodion.

Some reports say that Maresca personally accepts the purchase of Omorodion, who performed very well during his loan spell at Deportivo Alaves last season.

They say Chelsea will make another move for Omorodion after a £34 million bid was rejected, and the Spaniard will play at this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.

The prolific striker scored nine goals and registered 36 assists in 36 games across all competitions last season, and while these numbers don't exactly represent a talented striker, Omorodion is highly ranked.

“Omorodion is a wonderful striker blessed with good physicality, aerial power, speed and agility, a combination that has given many experienced defenders nightmares early in his career,” writes journalist Tom Olver in Metro.

“The Spanish U21 player has also been praised for his hard work and is known for relentlessly pressing his opponents.”
