Chris Eubank Jr signs promotional deal with Boxxer and says “big fights are on the way”

THERE is a new lifestyle for Chris Eubank Jr after the British superstar signed a promotional deal with Boxxer.

Described as a “massive partnership deal” in their press release, Eubank Jr will once again fight on Sky Sports as he looks to the big fights that have been consistent during his prime.

It's his 35thth birthday is two months away and Eubank looks to be back in the ring soon having not fought since defeating Liam Smith 10 months ago. That win — with Terence Crawford's trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre in his corner — was as important as his loss to Smith eight months ago.

In recent days, Eubank, (33-3, 24 KOs), has been linked with a big fight with the undefeated super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez and reports show that it is between Brit and Edgar Berlanga who will face the Mexican next. .

“I am very happy to sign with BOXXER and Ben Shalom,” said Eubank.

“They are in line with the direction I want to go. We have big plans for the next 12 to 24 months. There are big fights going on and these guys can make it happen. This is cooperation. I have the freedom and the freedom to work the way I want to work, which is very rare. I am in a position of power. I'm really in control of where I want to go to be happy.

“I've been in this game for 12 years and I'm still hungry. I'm still happy. I still love boxing. I'm in a blessed situation right now where there are four or five different names that are big fights that everybody wants to see. Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, Conor Benn, Billy Joe Saunders – and that's just off the top of my head. There are a lot of other fights that can be done, even at home, so I'm in a happy mood.”

Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom sees his latest signing as one of the “biggest star attractions in boxing” and “a visible pay-per-view star”.

“He brings excitement and intrigue wherever he goes,” said Shalom.

“BOXXER is his natural home and I am incredibly excited to be working with Chris to ensure we achieve his great potential and ambition. We have had the privilege of working with Chris on the biggest fight nights in the UK and there will be many more to come in the UK and around the world. Hunger and desire are there. We can't wait to see him get back into the game and take part in the big fights.”

Eubank's personality has made him popular with many viewers, but he is still divisive among boxing fans. Home bouts against Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves ended in defeat and his biggest wins to date include Liam Smith, Liam Williams and a version of James DeGale that surpassed his best.

The talent and athleticism are still there, and this latest promotional deal should now be used to put Eubank Jr in marquee fights that he believes he is ready to compete in and win.
