France will hold on to Deschamps despite the struggle for Euro 2024
The French Football Federation has no intention of sacking Didier Deschamps despite Les Bleus' disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.
France crashed out of the semi-finals last night after losing 2-1 to Spain – a respectable performance on the face of it but Deschamps' side lacked enthusiasm.
The team managed one goal in open play – Randal Kolo Muani's early header against Spain – and reached the final four thanks to Kylian Mbappe's two goals.
France was heavily criticized by its media but FFF president Philippe Diallo told L'Equipe: [Deschamps] you have a contract [that runs until 2026] and he has achieved the sporting goal that was set for him.
“I don't see the need to ask about his contract. His past results speak for themselves and goals have been achieved. Didier will continue his work.”
I'm done…

Deschamps replaced Laurent Blanc as France manager in 2012 and has enjoyed great success.
The 55-year-old led Les Bleus to the 2018 World Cup title in Russia before his side reached the final in Qatar four years later but lost to Argentina on penalties.
They also reached the final of Euro 2016 – a tournament they hosted – but lost 1-0 to Portugal.
Asked about his future after the Spain game, Deschamps said: “I'm here to answer your questions.” [but] I won't answer that one today.
“You know exactly what my president thinks so you don't even need to ask the question.”
