'I could hit any shot I wanted' – Nelly Korda explains switch to TaylorMade Qi10 Max driver

TaylorMade should be pleased with the way the professional seasons are going on both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour and their top picks Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda are looking to dominate.

Korda and Scheffler both use drivers from the Qi10 family, the leading money winner on the LPGA Tour has chosen to use the Max variant so far this season.

He switched to a Qi10 Max golf driver and TP5X golf ball earlier this year and is having his best season ever winning records including the first major of 2024 at the Chevron Championship.

Korda felt that Max gave him the power to make all the shots he needed to stay at the top of his game.

“The reason why I took the Qi10 Max driver is the way it looks compared to others. When I put it down and look at it I feel like I can hit any shot I want with the subtle green face and silver topline. Once I put the Qi10 Max down and turn it off, I feel like I can hit any shot I want to hit.”

Korda also made some changes to his rigs as he aimed to reduce the spin he was getting in order to keep distance.

TaylorMade introduced a great solution with a change in the ball and other club changes to drive Korda this incredible season.

“Nelly was looking to downgrade, especially in her driver, so we did a test in September,” said TaylorMade Senior Tour Manager Ressa. “We've seen the benefits of TP5x in his driver and irons that drop the spin down a few hundred RPM.

“Then, when the greens, his chip delivery was a little lower and he produced more greens with the TP5x than the TP5. He produced a lot of check on the preferred trajectory from TP5x versus TP5. He has been happy with football since then.”

When it comes to his irons Korda has played a combination of P·770 and P·7MC sets since joining TaylorMade at the start of the 2023 season with a starting lineup of P·770 5-iron and P·7MC in 6- PW.

Korda chose the P·770 for the length and spin it produces and the P·7MC for more performance and shot-making in the short game.

In the first tests with his long irons (5-6), Korda aimed to add length to hit the greens from a distance of 180-200 yards.

His IP·770 5-iron answered this requirement seamlessly, providing an additional 15 feet of length and delivering a full inch of carry distance.

Paired with the P·7MC irons, the women's world No 1 delivers strong dispersion and precise distance control.

A major change in Korda's irons occurred at the 2023 LPGA Drive On Championship in Phoenix when TaylorMade's tour irons stepped in to reduce drag and strengthen a little and she was on fire every time.
