Real Madrid have confirmed six shirt numbers ahead of the 2024/25 season, including the jersey Kylian Mbappe will wear for the club and Toni Kroos' replacement number 8.
Mbappe wore the number 7 for most of his time with former club Paris Saint-Germain and has been donning the number 10 for France in recent years. Not available at the Bernabeu as Vinicius Junior and Luka Modric respectively.
The new star is expected to take over from Modric in 2025, but will wear the number 9 in the short term.
It looks like Cristiano Ronaldo took it in 2009/10 thanks to Madrid legend Raul who has his favorite 7, and the last player to wear 9 was fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema until 2023.
The number 6 shirt vacated by former team captain Nacho Fernandez was taken over by Eduardo Camavinga, who wore number 12. Federico Valverde takes over for 8 years after Kroos retires. Next, his old number 15 shirt went to Arda Guler, who was 24 last season.
Aurelien Tchouameni has a new shirt for his third season with Madrid, replacing 18 of the 14 worn by the now departed Joselu. Defender Jess Vallejo, whose presence in the team may depend on Madrid's success in pursuing Leny Yoro, was given 18.
Another player yet to be given a shirt number is Endrick. The Brazilian will not officially join the team until he celebrates his 18th birthday later this month. With the above changes closed, he could end up with 12, 16, 24 or 25 in his first season in Spain.
In La Liga, the members of the first team are numbered from 1 to 25. Players can wear higher numbers, but only those who are registered primarily with the team's B team.
