Crawford Vs. Madrimov: Promo Trailer Reveals Expectations and Unanswered Questions
A promo trailer is out for the August 3 fight between WBA junior middleweight champion Israel Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) and Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) on ESPN+ PPV at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Turki Alalshikh's Confidence and Mysterious “Wonders”.
Crawford's inactivity casts doubt on whether he is ready to take on a boxer as skilled and raw as Madrimov. Terence has never searched for anyone near this level during his 16-year career, and he's no longer a chicken.
This is Crawford's fourth weight class, and he was eating up the older guys a lot, outclassing their best guys in the welterweight division. Madrimov may expose Crawford to the light of day on August 3, revealing that he is not the fighter that fans thought he was.
Turki Alalshikh's Confidence and Plans for the “Miracle”
Turki Alalshikh believes Crawford, 36, will be able to succeed against the younger and stronger Madrimov in his debut at 154 after 13 months out of the ring:
“I am sure that Crawford will make history and surprise the world. We have big surprises waiting for Crawford that will be revealed soon,” said Alalshikh to X.
What I want to know is whether there will be a surprise for Madrimov if he destroys Crawford. It defeats the whole purpose if the loser gets the rewards of the game and the winner is left out in the cold for a job well done.
Since this fight will be in Los Angeles, Crawford will have a home country, but not his hometown. 'Little GGG' Madrimov brings the judges to his fights with his punching power, so Crawford will be out of luck with the judges on August 3.
Turki's comment, “We have big surprises in store for Crawford,” seems to point to him getting a title shot against the undefeated super middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez. If that match happens, it will be Crawford's first fight at 168.
What is not clear is whether Crawford will still get the chance to fight for Canelo's four belts, even if he loses to Madrimov on August 3. Will Crawford still get the Canelo fight, or will he lose to Madrimov? If so, what does it mean for him to take this fight on August 3?
Madrimov's Golden Ticket?
It would make fans happy if Madrimov wins the fight against Crawford and gets the golden ticket to face Canelo. It would be like vintage Gennadiy Golovkin being taken out of the area A frozen cryo chamber and face Canelo again.
What would have been more interesting was if the Crawford-Madrimov fight wasn't one where the winner would be promised a fight by Canelo, not the potential loser, Crawford.
The biggest fight in the business would be for Crawford to challenge Canelo instead of Madrimov, but if Terence loses, that takes a lot of the appeal away from the matchup with Alvarez.
