Janibek Alimkhanuly is hospitalized – the defense of the joint title against Mikhailovich is closed

WBO/IBF world middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly has been forced to withdraw his defense tomorrow night against Andrei Mikhailovich at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas after being admitted to hospital on Thursday evening due to dehydration.

“Janibek was shedding the last few pounds last night when he passed out,” said Egis Klimas, Janibek's manager. “We immediately took him to Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he was given an IV. Although the scans did not show kidney damage, he was dehydrated and unable to fight.”

A 10-round lightweight bout between undefeated contender Raymond Muratalla and former world champion Tevin Farmer has been promoted to the main event.
