Tottenham are now “starting to really go for it” with £8k-a-week target Postecoglou
Tottenham are targeting an exciting new signing for Ange Postecoglou ahead of the new Premier League season, it has been revealed.
Spurs continue the transfer style
Recent transfer windows have seen Spurs shy away from big-money moves and instead look to acquire future gems, as they did with the signings of Udinese defender Destiny Udogie and Metz midfielder Pape Sarr.
They continued that form this summer, signing Archie Gray from Leeds United in a deal worth up to £40m to strengthen their midfield, while adding experience by renewing Timo Werner's loan in north London.

However, targeting young players is a trend that shows no signs of stopping.
Spurs push for a winger
It has now emerged that Tottenham are pushing hard for Stade Rennais star Desire Doue amid interest from across Europe. Although he is only 19 years old, he has already been seen as a regular in France.
Last season, the versatile winger grabbed four goals and five assists in 31 Ligue 1 appearances to help Rennes into mid-season and out of relegation trouble.

When asked about Doue, his teammate Baptiste Santamaria was full of praise for this young man, he said that he has never seen a player with such talent.
“He's a very talented player with a good mind for football. But he's young. But he's a player who wants to go to the big clubs. He's one of a kind: he likes to hit the ball but he's strong on his feet. Desire's technical, singing and physical qualities are amazing when he changes, he's unplayable at his age, he's a very gifted youngster which I have seen in my work.
And Postecoglou is understood to be a big fan of the youngster and wants to bring him to Tottenham this summer, while Rennes are understood to be holding out for around £35m to let him go, which would make him second only to Jeremy Doku. their most expensive departure list.
With that in mind, transfer reporter Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Lilywhites are looking to do a deal, stealing a march from other parties involved in the process.
“Desire Doue links, but I'm told it's not Chelsea at the moment that's the team to watch, it's Tottenham who are pushing”, he explained.
“Desire Doue, PSG is one of the beneficiaries, Bayern and Spurs, and Spurs are the ones who are starting to move now. PSG is there but I've been told that Spurs are the ones who are starting to get around in this category.”
Luis Enrique's side are looking to replace Kylian Mbappe this summer, but can already boast Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele in wide areas, while Bayern Munich have recently added Michael Olise to a list that includes Serge Gnabry, Kinglsey Coman and Leroy Sane.
Because of this, a move to north London and the Premier League could be surprisingly attractive to Doue, who is likely to see plenty of first-team football, even if Postecoglou's side are not in the Champions League for the 2024-25 campaign.
However, he still has two years left to run on his £8.5k-a-week deal with Rennes, meaning he could opt for another season in France before taking the next step in his career.
If Spurs manage to persuade him otherwise and complete the deal, it would represent a major coup for the Lilywhites.
