Jesse Marsch thinks he will “never be interested” in the USMNT job unless there is a big change

Jesse Marsch has opened up about any potential interest in the USA men's national team coach position saying he would likely not be interested in the job unless there was a major change in the organization.

The US Soccer Federation has fired men's national team coach Gregg Berhalter nine days after the team was kicked out of Copa America 2024. The USA's performance was disappointing and fans are calling for a change before hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The agency reached out to former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, but he quickly rejected any interest. Marsch, who was recently named to the Canadian national team, has been linked to the job in the past. If there are USMNT fans looking for Marsch, they might want to start looking elsewhere.

At a press conference ahead of Canada's third-place match against Uruguay, Marsch was asked which team he would be playing on Sept. 7 when the team played the USA in an international friendly.

“I'm not leaving this job, I don't care about the US job. And to be honest, unless there's a big change in the organization, I don't think I'll ever be interested in that job in the future. .” Insults aside, Marsch isn't going anywhere it seems.

“I'm very happy here, I really couldn't be happier about what it's like to work with the leaders in this organization and what it's like to work with this team.”

So, those two managers are not on the table, at least. His words may resonate even more with Canadian fans than the former Leeds United manager.

Marsch was hired back on May 13 by Canada ahead of the country's first Copa America appearance. Although the team still only scored two goals in regulation of the tournament, Marsch has the team in the third place match against Uruguay. And, if Canada wins, Marsch will have only lost to tournament favorites Argentina in the tournament.

There will be an added edge to the future friendship between the USA and Canada after Marsch's harsh words.
