Onrait: “In your opinion, Kenzie, how likely is GM Ken Hughes to continue to add to this roster before the start of the regular season?
Lalonde: Yes, so we, I think we know that we may go back to free agency. And we've heard Jonathan Marchessault say that the Canadiens are in favor of him signing with them. The only problem there was, was the name. So Marchessault ended up signing a five-year deal with the Nashville Predators.
NHL Rumors: Plenty of Time Left in the Summer for Leon Draisaitl to Sign Extension
So it shows that Canadians are not at all comfortable with a five-year contract, more in that short period of two to three years but the best striker in six. They want to make that progress.
If they come out get that free agent on a short term deal. They want to make sure that he will add to them and make it better. So we'll continue to look at the top six and how they fare. There is definitely a place where you can play big minutes.
It will be good to see a healthy Kirby Dach back in the lineup with Alex Newhook there as well. So we're looking at that second line, who will rotate on the winger? Will Josh Anderson go back to his scoring drive and fill in there or will they continue to shop around, shop around and if they find a deal that makes sense, make it happen.
NHL Rumors: New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, and Buffalo Sabres
And they had the equipment to make it happen. They have bright young defensemen on the blue line, and two, likely first round picks next year in the 2025 NHL draft. so they have the means to make a move just to find what suits them.
