Man City have struck gold in the now-expensive wonder star Yamal
Over the years, Manchester City have had some of the best South American footballers in the Premier League play for them. It has been a world circuit that has given the Cityzens, and the Premier League, some of the greatest players in history.
Perhaps the most famous South American of all to play for the blue side of Manchester is Sergio Aguero. The former Argentine striker scored 260 goals in 390 games for City, registering 65 assists in the process. He left the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2020/21 campaign, a five-time Premier League winner.
One of City's most outstanding players in South America is defensive midfielder Fernandinho. The Brazilian legend, who also won five Premier League titles with the Cityzens, played 383 times for the club, scoring 26 goals and registering 31 assists for the midfielder.
There are also two well-known South American players currently at the club, one of whom is goalkeeper Ederson. However, the Brazilian could leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, with a move to Saudi Arabia thought to be on the cards.
There is one and he could leave big money in the not too distant future. In fact, he is worth more than one of the game's global stars, Lamine Yamal.

It has been a remarkable rise to stardom for 17-year-old Yamal from Barcelona and Spain.
The exciting talent has lit up Euro 2024 and has started all but one game for La Roja. He scored one goal, surprisingly against France in the semi-finals, and is the leading assister with three.
The teenager burst onto the scene in the 2023/24 season for Barcelona but made his debut for the Spanish giants at the end of last season, coming off the bench for seven minutes against Real Betis.
Last season, Yamal made 50 appearances for Barca in all competitions, scoring an impressive ten goals and registering seven assists. He quickly became a household name in the world of football.
Undoubtedly, the talented youngster has seen his market value rise in a very short time.
According to Transfermarkt, the youngster is worth £77m, which is a remarkable rise from October 2023, when Yamal was worth just £21m. The way he played in Barcelona and Spain showed why he is so respected.
That being said, there are players in world football who are more important than him. One of them is Argentine striker Julian Alvarez.
Julian Alvarez market value in 2024
The 24-year-old cost the Cityzens just £14m in 2022, but following his impressive performances for club and country, he is now worth £77m, just like Barca's 17-year-old star, according to Transfermarkt.
It is fair to say that since his move to Manchester, Alvarez has had a very good time of things, although he has played second fiddle to Erling Haaland, even though he is not in a position to welcome the Norwegian star forward.
In 103 games for the eight-time Premier League champions, he has scored 36 goals and registered 18 assists. That includes 11 goals and nine assists in just 36 games in the Premier League last season.
The 24-year-old girl is definitely the man of the moment. In the past 18 months, Alvarez scored in the 2022/23 Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, grabbed two goals and an assist in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals in Argentina and Croatia and most recently in the Copa America semi-finals . against Canada.
Those goals were obviously important, as he boasts of having an impressive wardrobe despite being only 22 years old. It would be a collection of trophies that most legends of the game do not boast. Alvarez has a certain collection.

At the time, Alvarez's signing was seen as good business for City, and that assumption continues to be proven correct. He was such a cheap player, but to sign a player of that quality, his market value has increased so much, it's really commendable. The signing of the striker was excellent business for City.
