Man Utd make £25k-p/w bid for Dutch midfielder after Zirkzee
A major development has emerged regarding Manchester United's pursuit of the “perfect” player and target Joshua Zirkzee this summer, according to new rumours.
Man United close by signing Zirkzee
As things stand, it looks like Zirkzee will be the Red Devils' first signing of the summer transfer window, with the Dutchman expected to arrive from Bologna in the near future. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have been working hard to get a deal over the line, with a deal agreed for the 23-year-old, who is expected to reach a long-term deal.
Assuming a move is completed this summer, Zirkzee has the potential to be a very exciting United signing, given his impressive performances in a Bologna shirt, scoring 14 goals and registering nine assists in 58 Serie A appearances.
He hopes those numbers only go up at Old Trafford, when he plays with top-class players, from Bruno Fernandes to Rasmus Hojlund, and former Bayern Munich star David Alaba has said of himself in the past: “Joshua has integrated well into the team since day one. He picks things up quickly and wants to learn. It's great to be rewarded. He's a talented boy. He's got talent that doesn't exist. Everyone has him.”
Now, it looks like United have decided who they may want to sign alongside Zirkzee this summer, with important developments emerging in relation to another Dutch target.
Man Utd made an offer for the “perfect” player.
In accordance with Gazette dello Sport [via Man Utd News]Manchester United has tabled a big offer for PSG player Xavi Simons, as they have been linked with two deals for Simons to be linked with Zirkzee in recent days.
The Red Devils have now “stepped up” their efforts to secure the £25,000-a-week Dutchman's signature “in the last few hours”, although the amount offered has not been specified.
Simons could be United's best signing ahead of next season and beyond, with the 21-year-old's talent highlighted by his stunning strike in the Netherlands' 2-1 win over England in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
The attacking midfielder showed his talent regularly on loan at RB Leipzig, too, registering 19 goals (eight goals and 11 assists) in 33 Bundesliga games last season, with teammate Dani Olmo calling him a “complete” footballer. “it has amazing towing techniques, it finishes as well”.
Still only 21 years old, there is still a lot to come from Simons in the coming years, and he can add a lot to United's attacking midfield, as well as being able to stand out. Signing him and Zirkzee sounds like a no-brainer, and it's encouraging to see this new bid come to fruition.
