NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets and McLellan, Robertson Lands, and Canucks
Did the Columbus Blue Jackets think they were too far ahead of Todd McLellan?
Brian Hedger: From a source regarding Todd McLellan's status with the Columbus Blue Jackets, McLellan has heard how far the Blue Jackets are from competing and returning to the playoffs and Blue Jackets management may not really agree with his thoughts on that.
Three possible places for Nick Robertson
Adam Proteau of Hockey News: Nick Robertson has yet to earn a right on the Toronto Maple Leafs roster. Injuries did not help his development in Toronto. Recently there have been reports that Robertson would like to change places. Other potential trades for Robertson.
NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Need to Shed Some Salary
San Jose Sharks – Robertson is from California and the Sharks could use more help. The Maple Leafs do not have a second round pick in the next two years. Can the second prospect and middle class work for both sides?
Columbus Blue Jackets – There might not be a top six spot on their roster right now, but if they decide to trade Boone Jenner, there might be. The Leafs will probably want a draft pick and a good prospect.
Vegas Golden Knights – Robertson can help their middle six. They have all of their second-round picks in the next three drafts. A good prospect might be right for the Leafs.
The Canucks could use a puck-moving defensemen, and are Vasily Podkolzin's days numbered?
Thomas Drance of the Athletic: (mailbag) The Vancouver Canucks could use some more mobile defense options besides their top pairing. Someone like UFA Oliver Kylington under $1 million for a year or two would make sense. It also makes sense if they wait until closer to the trade deadline to see what options are moving there.
NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Carolina Hurricanes
If Vasily Podkolzin doesn't make the Canucks out of camp, his time in Vancouver could be coming to an end. He needs to be waived, to get a claim, or the Canucks could look to move him before releasing him.
