If you're looking for a mid-bounce lob wedge that produces a smooth, fast feel through the turf, the new Vokey Design WedgeWorks A+ Grind is now available at Vokey.com.
The new lob wedge features a wider, pointed sole and is offered in 58- and 60-degree lofts.
The A+ Grind is closely related to the Vokey WedgeWorks A Grind. The IA Grind was born from a collaboration between Vokey Tour representative Aaron Dill and US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, who wanted a blade that moved through firmer turf faster than his L Grind. Dill took Ogilvy's feedback and removed the ribbon from the L grind, resulting in a smoother sole that cuts through the ground with less resistance.
The A+ Grind was created with similar versions for players who preferred the feel of the A Grind sole but needed more width and bounce for their delivery. Dill will smooth the grind lines of the M Grind rather than the L Grind that Ogilvy played.
“Over the years, we started to see loyal M Grind players who found that the team could be a lot of fun for their liking,” said Dill. “A+ comes from taking their player M Grind and removing the ribbon in the middle of the shoe. Those players found the leading edge of the A+ to sit a little, and the hub moved quickly into the ground. That helped open up more flexibility for others based on how they bring the club to football.”
The A+ Grind is the choice for players who like a smooth, fast-feeling wedge and play with a moderate angle of attack in a variety of conditions.
The new WedgeWorks A+ Grind is now available in 58-degree and 60-degree lofts (RH only) and a Raw finish.
A+ ROLL ON THE HORSE
At the core of every Vokey Design wedge is the collaboration of Master Craftsman Bob Vokey and Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill with the best wedge players in the world. The result is a grinding matrix designed to service every type of player.
Vokey Design wedges make up more than half of all gap, sand and lob wedges played on the PGA TOUR this year. Players who rely on Vokey Design wedges have won 20 events so far on the PGA TOUR in 2024. Celebrity Brand Ambassador Davis Riley recently used his WedgeWorks 60A+ lob wedge in winning the Charles Schwab Challenge for his first PGA TOUR title.
In addition to Riley, A+ Grind is also used by the 2013 Masters champion and 2015 PGA Championship winner.
