Golf Business News – Grand Hyatt La Manga appoints new director of golf school

Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa has appointed Craig Donnelly as the new Director of Golf at its Academy and Practice Centre.

Donnelly began his professional career playing at Letham Grange Golf Club in Scotland, and discovered his passion for coaching in 2000 when he launched his own golf management, retail and teaching business. Since then he has won many coaching awards, including the Young Business Award from the Princess Trust and continues to be involved as head coach of the Murcia Golf Federation junior team.

In his new role as Golf Academy Director, Donnelly will be responsible for the management, strategy and operations of La Manga Club Golf & Spa.

With a passion for cutting-edge sports technology, Donnelly has already announced plans to launch Trackman 4, which provides detailed information and information about the swing and flight of the ball, and Hack Motion, designed to help players check their arm statistics when putting. Both programs will be available at the training center to ensure that training is tailored to each player's abilities and that progress can be tracked. This technology-led approach will allow the club to deliver a high level of training.

Additionally, Donnelly has plans to expand class availability and launch a new Junior Golf Academy in time for the high summer season. She is also committed to welcoming more PGA Professionals to the facility and continues to advocate for the adoption of golf by women and girls.

Donnelly commented: “I am delighted to be joining the La Manga Club team, and to be part of one of the best golf venues in Europe. I started playing at the resort a dozen years ago and have returned many times over the years, so it's good to be back and in a position to drive the club.

With my innovative coaching approach and lifelong passion for the game, I aim to inspire current golfers to continue to improve, as well as those new to the sport. I'm also a father of two young daughters, so getting more women into the game and supporting their growth is a big focus of mine.”

Ángel Holgado, General Manager at Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa, added: “We are delighted to welcome Craig to the resort and look forward to seeing him continue to grow our world-class golf offering, from expanding our membership network to giving. great support from the coaches at the Academy.”
