John Wall Plans NBA Comeback

John Wall says he will do anything to bring back the NBA. Wall, who has played just 74 games since the 2018-19 season, says he's ready to fill whatever role is needed.

“For me, I'm not giving up on my dreams of returning to the league,” he said on the ESPN Summer League broadcast on Sunday. I know I've been through a lot of things, because of injuries… to still work hard and come here and connect and have teams. Whatever the role is, I am willing to accept it.

“… If it goes to the team and being a vet and teaching the younger guys how to be a ranger, just to help out, that's progress I'm willing to make.”

Wall has not played in an NBA game since January 2023, when he became a member of the Clippers. He also missed the entire 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons.

Another player on the way back is Isaiah Thomas, who also gave an update on ESPN's Sunday Summer League broadcast.

“I'm a free agent right now. (I'm talking to) a couple of teams trying to figure out what's the best opportunity next,” Thomas told ESPN's Cassidy Hubbath. “I want to play another year or two. Just keep grinding. Staying patient and ready. Knowing that I can make an impact in the organization even when I'm playing. or not, and make a big impact every day. So I'm waiting for the call.”

Thomas' most recent NBA performance came last season in Phoenix, where he played just 19 minutes in six games.
