Spurs could sign their answer to Dani Olmo for 'special' £25m talent
It's been more than a month since the transfer window opened for Euro 2024, but now that it's over, we can expect to see more movement in the coming weeks.
Tottenham Hotspur have already made a splash in the market this summer when they spent £30m on Leeds United's Archie Gray, but the most established star they have been linked with is Spanish international Dani Olmo.
The Spaniard has enjoyed an impressive run at the Euros, and as a result, the Lilywhites may now find it difficult to convince him to move to the N17.
However, that may not be a problem, as based on the latest reports, Daniel Levy and Co seem to have identified another exciting striker who could be their answer to the RB Leipzig ace.
Tottenham Hotspur transfer news
According to the latest report from Caught Offside, Tottenham are interested in Fenerbahçe star Sebastian Szymanski this summer.
The report revealed that the Lilywhites have already sent scouts to watch him play for the Turkish giants, and although they are not looking to sell him, a fee of around €30m, which is around £25m, would be enough.
It could still be a huge investment for a player with no top-five experience in the league, but based on his recent performances and potential, £25m could look like a hefty sum – especially if signing him hampers Olmo's demand.
How does Szymanski compare to Olmo
Now, the main reason why Spurs see the signing of Szymanski as a reason to stop any interest in Olmo is that, as a Polish international, the Spaniard can play on the left or right as well as in the middle of the attacking midfield.
In fact, throughout his career, he has started 131 games in attacking midfield, 43 on the left and 42 on the right. Likewise, the Fenerbahçe star has started 162 games in the middle of the attacking midfield, 46 between the right wing and midfield and 28 between the left wing and midfield.
So, if they can occupy the same spaces on the field, who is more productive?
However, last season, the Leipzig star scored eight goals and provided five assists in just 25 games, which means he averaged a goal participation every 1.92 games.
In contrast, the “unique” 25-year-old, as called by U23 scout Antonio Mango, scored 13 goals and provided 19 assists, which means he averaged a goal involvement every 1.71 games.

It's not just the attacking output that can make the Sarı Kanaryalar star an attractive prospect, either.
In his entire career so far, he has missed 15 games due to injury, while the Spaniard has missed 68 games so far.
Ultimately, Olmo could be a fantastic signing for Spurs, but with his injury record hanging over him, their similar output levels and vastly different values, selecting Szymanski would be a better option.
So, if Levy and Co have a chance to secure his services this summer, they should grab it.
