2024 is, obviously, the year of a quick recovery from knee surgery. Novak Djokovic made headlines at Wimbledon, where he rose to reach the final, and started running less than a month after knee surgery to repair his right meniscus.

Today we learned that Poland's Hubert Hurkacz, who injured his right knee during his third-round loss to Arthur Fils at Wimbledon, is set to play in the Olympics after undergoing surgery on Monday July 15.

“I had knee surgery this Monday, but I'm feeling better and my team and I are devoting more time every day to the rehabilitation process,” Hubert wrote on Instagram.

“It's every athlete's dream to represent their country at the Olympics, and I want to make sure I'm healthy and ready before making the final decision to enter the court. The goal is not just to participate, but to win a medal for my country. I will keep you updated on my progress as we take it day by day.”

The 27-year-old Hurkacz, ranked No. 7, is 34-14 this year so far at the Estoril clay title.

He reached the round of 32 at the 2020 Tokyo Games. This year he is expected to play mixed doubles with World No.1 Iga Swiatek in Paris

Olympic tennis begins on July 27 in Paris.
