Commentator Antonio Tarver says Terence Crawford will beat Jaron 'Boots' Ennis if the two meet to determine who is the top dog between them.
Crawford is expected to retire soon, and he could if he gets the Canelo Alvarez fight. Before that, he will have to face Israel Madrimov, the WBA junior middleweight champion, on August 3.
Crawford may lose to Madrimov, which has ruined his hopes of a fight with Canelo. If Crawford wins, he will likely try to capture another title at 154 to become uncontested.
Tarver feels that former three-division world champion Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) looked better against David Avanesyan two years ago than 'Boot's Ennis did on July 13.
For the record, 'Boots' (32-0, 29 KOs) stopped Avanesyan early in the fifth round versus Crawford's sixth-round knockout on December 10, 2022.
The boots look much stronger and smaller than the 34-year-old version of Crawford, who fought Avanesyan two years ago.
Ennis was hit hard by Avanesyan, but he always responded. Crawford was beaten by Avanesyan, but he put more energy into the defense than Boots. It was a different way.
Ennis was trying to get Avanesyan out of there, and he wasn't focused on trying not to get hit like Crawford. Crawford did a lot of shuffling to keep Avanesyan from crowding him inside. The referee should have warned Crawford for shoving, but I didn't see a single warning.
