What will happen in 2024/25?
Predicting the 2024/25 Premier League season a month before the campaign kicks off. How could this go wrong?
Well, we'll do it anyway. After all, the new Premier League season is only a few weeks away and the excitement is already palpable. It's at this point that even the clash between Brentford and Nottingham Forest looks like the most incredible football match anyone will ever see, so let's embrace it.
Forget Euro 2024, forget Copa America. It's old news. It's time to get your Premier League on and agree unanimously with all our predictions for the upcoming campaign.
And Arsenal have worked over the last two seasons to push for all these victories Manchester City the team in terms of their limitations, they could fail again at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Having won six of the last seven Premier League titles, it is not easy to predict that Pep Guardiola's men could win again. As dull as it would be to see the trophy return to the Etihad, it makes sense.
Maybe we can act like a jinx.
What a surprise it would be to see you The Crystal Palace pushing for European places next season is doubtful. After all, they finished in tenth place in 2023/24 following a recent rise up the table under Oliver Glasner.
But the Eagles finished 11 points clear of seventh-placed Chelsea and have already seen one of their biggest creators, Michael Olise, move to Bayern Munich. Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze could also be poached, with Palace's success largely dependent on who can stay at Selhurst Park.
However, with some shrewd recruitment and luck in the market, Glasner's men could go further and break into the top six next season.
It is given Liverpool arguably the most successful of Jurgen Klopp's final seasons, we predict a real hard check for 2024/25. The Reds owe Klopp so much for so many years that life without the talented coach may seem impossible. Well, in the short term at least.
Arne Slot is the man given the unenviable task of rallying the troops and building on strong foundations, but as impressive as his Feyenoord side were, he remains largely unexplored at the highest level.
Now, Liverpool are unlikely to finish too far up the table regardless of what results are dropped, but could be disrupted as Slot tries to fit his feet in Klopp's shoes. Getting out of the Champions League spots seems a possibility.
Two seasons in the Premier League. A pair of golden boots. 63 goals. Need to say more?
Bet against Erling Haaland a third consecutive Golden Boot equals a blue bet at the roulette table. You would just throw away your money.
The likes of Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins brought him close last season, but a man who regularly produces a goal per game is too good to be denied.
When Erling Haaland finishes top scorer, it may be his compatriot who claims the man of the match award. Arsenal are showing few signs of slowing down under Mikel Arteta – in fact, they are accelerating at a surprising rate – and their devastating play has been key to their success, despite having a rock-solid defense at the back.
Bukayo Saka might make headlines and Kai Havertz might be a hipster choice, though Martin Odegaard the Gunners key holder. The benevolent magician boasts an unrivaled left boot, capable of cutting open defenses with incredible ease.
He produced ten assists last season, the most in a single Premier League campaign, and we hope he continues next term.
His passport may say he is 19, but Kobbie Mainoo he has the brains of a 26-year-old Spaniard, spraying balls into midfield and breaking up play with incredible consistency. A goal in last season's FA Cup final against Man City could be the only exception to what should be a special career.
Mainoo is already one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, performing at his highest level amid the turmoil at Old Trafford last season. If Man Utd can pull themselves together, sign a few good players and not replace them quickly, Mainoo will be even more prominent next season.
We may have told Liverpool they would struggle, but Slot's arrival could be a real boost Dominik Szoboszlai. After a good start to his career at Anfield, the Hungarian suffered a terrible start to the year, failing to even make the starting XI at the end of the campaign.
The Euro 2024 low may lack confidence, but Slot's plan could give the former RB Leipzig man the freedom he craves. Szoboszlai should be able to play a role similar to the number 10, allowing him to show off his quick feet and powerful shooting in a dangerous position.
Having only managed three goals and two assists in his first Premier League campaign, he shouldn't have to work hard to set himself up for a better team.
