Heavyweight champion Martin Bakole predicts a knockout victory in his fight with undefeated American Jared Anderson on August 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Bakole (20-1, 15 KOs) says he can't wait to rematch 24-year-old Jared Anderson after knocking him out of their ESPN+ PPV fight on the undercard of Terence Crawford vs. Israel Madrimov.
It's not clear whose idea it was to have Jared, a rookie, fight a talent, a proven heavyweight like Bakole. He is not ready for this type of balance, and it proves disastrous for Anderson who has been promoted to the top ranks.
Honorable Turki Alalshikh may have wanted this matchup, which is great for the fans, but it may not end well for Anderson. He is thrown in at the deep end after 17 fights against Ham and Eggers.
If Anderson loses the fight, Top Rank must start over with him and match him with strength. It would be a good idea to get a different coach, and lose Shakur's fighting style that he adopted.
Anderson is ranked #4 WBO, #5 IBF, #6 WBC, and #13 WBA. However, that situation depends more on what the four sanctioning bodies believe Anderson can do rather than hitting anyone at the top level during his five-year tenure.
The only notable win on Anderson's resume is the 38-year-old Charles Martin, and he looked poor against him last year in July 2023, getting injured twice in the tournament.
It seemed that Anderson adopted the fighting style of his friend Shakur Stevenson, using a similar style of three-step back-and-forth. Martin quickly saw Anderson and followed him to impale him with a gun. That boring style got Anderson busted in his last fight with Ryad Merhy.
Anderson played it safe throughout the ten-round contest, backing down when attacked and showing no aggression against a guy who was designed to be a showpiece opponent. He will have to change his Shakur-esque style if he hopes to beat Martin Bakole on August 3 because it won't work against this type of talent.

Bakole, 31, is surprisingly ranked below Anderson despite his better resume. This shows how hype affects the four bodies of punishment.
“I'm very focused on beating him because he's a bad guy in America. I made my debut in America. I can see the end result of putting him down,” said Bakole when asked about his prediction for his fight with Jared at BMO Stadium.
