Buddy Hield under pressure to replace Klay Thompson
Buddy Hield will be the second leading shooter on his new NBA team, the Warriors, for the first time in his memory.
But he's more than happy to be the second player to the league's best shooter, Steph Curry.
“Stephen. He is. I've been watching my whole life,” Hield told reporters Thursday morning during his press conference.
“I'm a sponge. You are ready to learn. Ready to check him out and see how he's doing with his shooting career. The way he works, his habits. I think it will be an interesting year for me. … I think it's fun. I'm happy.”
The shooting guard was signed after the beloved Klay Thompson ended his 13-year run with Golden State to sign with Dallas.
So, naturally, Hield was asked if he felt pressure to replace the franchise legend.
“There's no pressure,” Hield said. “Just come and let me do my job. What Klay did for this organization was great. I love Klay so much. I have watched him over the years. You are special. The way he can be hot and the way he can just change the game to be the two-way player that he is, and the champion that he is.
“So, I don't see it as pressure. I think it's fun to be in that role and see if I can look the way he looks.”
Warriors fans on social media are calling Curry and Hield the “Splash Buddies” instead of “Splash Brothers,” Curry and Thompson and Hield doesn't care about this nickname.

“I don't see anything wrong with it,” Hield told reporters with a smile. “But we have to take it day by day. Come on.”
