Juergen Uldedaj stops Steven Ward in the fifth round

JUERGEN Uldedaj knocked out and completely stopped Steven Ward 2-46 in the fifth round of the cruiserweight this evening. Speaking in Dubai, Ward's short-notint ended in a crushing defeat as the patient winner went down, used the jab and took home the (vacant) IBF International title.

Ward struggled in the opening round as Uldedaj landed repeated left jabs. The Belfast man was hurt by a left hook as well, before targeting the body with right hands. Steven rallied early in the second but Uldedaj's late surge turned the tide.

Ward finished the third with a cut over his left eye. This was a concern given Ward's history of cutting. Uldedaj's right hand was a major concern for his longevity.

Jamie Moore was in Ward's corner, and they had a second division to face in round five. Ward decided to break in, launching his hooks. The right eye was horribly lacerated and bleeding. Uldedaj liked what he saw and piled on the pressure. The ref pounced as Ward lay prone on the ropes, trying to duck and throw desperate hooks.

Jamie Moore and the doctor were also surfing. Television shows have shown that heads collide to continue to open wounds. Uldedaj improves his record to 18-1 (7 KOs), while Ward falls to 14-3 (4 KOs).
