Frank Warren closes DAZN deal with Eddie Hearn affiliate
British promoter Frank Warren is in talks with DAZN in an industry-shattering broadcast deal that will see him under the Eddie Hearn banner. That's according to The Times, which reported the news with the understanding that Warren's TNT Sports deal expires in 2025.
This move will streamline things between the two promoters and make big fights easier to agree on. Another such fight is Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury. Joshua, of course, must first get past Daniel Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium. Dubois is encouraged by Warren.
Frank and Eddie's new union is fueled by the flow of money and the interest in boxing shown by Saudi official Turki Alalshikh, who has turned enemies into friends. Having them in the same place makes future competitions more possible.
That said, Matchroom and Golden Boy have been under the same DAZN banner for a long time, and the promotion battles rarely flow every month. Being on the same coast should make a difference with this proposed new relationship.
The no-nonsense move will leave TNT without a promoter if it decides to continue showing boxing. Undoubtedly, watching the development with interest, Ben Shalom's Boxxer is currently the in-house promoter of Sky Sports.
DAZN's path has taken a number of twists and turns since entering the competitive sports market in 2016. The combination of Matchroom and Queensberry could create a boxing base. Neither party has commented on the reports at this time.
