Man Utd boss, Arsenal target admits 'you never know' what can happen in the transfer window

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has admitted 'you never know' what can happen with Ivan Toney in the summer transfer market.

The 28-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a transfer in recent months, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham heavily linked with his signature.

West Ham have also been urged to make a bid for Toney – who now has 36 Premier League goals from 85 appearances to his name and was in England's Euro 2024 squad.

Although Toney scored just four goals last season following his return from an eight-month ban, his 20-goal performance in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign remains firmly in the memory.

As such, Brentford would like to keep hold of their star striker and have reportedly slapped a £60m fee on his head – although other outlets (including the Sun) have suggested the Bees are willing to take a cut.

Either way, Frank can't say with any real certainty that the Bees will keep Toney away from the big power grabs this summer.

“You will never know! He is a Brentford player and I would like him to stay. It would give me a very good challenge,” Frank told Sky Sports News on Saturday.

“I have not met a coach who does not want the best players possible. Currently, he is a Brentford player.

“He is enjoying his free time and I am happy, if he is here with us I would be very happy. A 20-goal scorer, that's two things. It's great to have that on your team, and it makes him valuable!

“We've said it before, I want to keep all my players, except for the five or six teams in the world that are selling clubs – and if there's a suitable request, that's fine.”
