Adam Proteau of Hockey News: Finally, NHL overtime will get a fix. Meanwhile, there is a Russian Junior League that has started a new wrinkle in its extra time.
Naturally, the KHL minor league (like the AHL) will be the testing ground for this new rule. Teams may not drag the puck back to their side of the ice. If the law is broken twice, that means a smaller fine.
That means no dragging the puck back to stop the offense or store time. Honestly, some teams just sit back and wait for their top players to rest or go to the shootout.
At the very least, the NHL should at least consider looking and seeing what can be done with this rule. Being busy often means the difference between putting out a compelling product and not.
Processing for the purpose of tapping is one thing. It doesn't hurt to look here.

Joe Veleno lives in Detroit
Detroit news: Joe Veleno signed a new contract that will keep him a member of the Detroit Red Wings for two more years. The forward signed a contract carrying an AAV of 2.275 million and more importantly avoided arbitration.
Veleno scored 12 goals and 16 assists in 80 games last year. He was consistent on both ends of the ice. Steve Yzerman still has Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond to sign. Detroit has $17 million in cap space.

NHL.com: Speaking of overtime, the Stanley Cup finally reached Kyle Okposo on Friday. Windows update glitch stopped the air flow and caused all kinds of computer problems. However, the Stanley Cup reached St. Paul, Minnesota anyway. It was only a few hours away.
NHL Rumors: Will Marner Start Season With Leafs
After all, Okposo waited 17 years to win the Stanley Cup. What more time did we wait to celebrate the day with a silver plate?
