Rangers vs Man Utd: Preview, predictions and lineup

Manchester United return to pre-season action on Saturday when they face Scottish giants Rangers in a friendly.

The Red Devils may have just landed wonder signing Leny Yoro, but it's not all smiles in the camp following a 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg in their pre-season debut. Erik ten Hag launched a tough attack for his side, with standards that need to improve quickly.

Next up is a trip across the United Kingdom to face Rangers at Murrayfield. The Glasgow outfit also lost their first game of the season against Ajax last week, with former Man Utd academy graduate Tom Lawrence scoring in a 2-1 defeat.

Here it is 90 min Man Utd vs Rangers clash guide.

It is expected to be a summer of change for Rangers under Philippe Clement and the club will be very active in the market. Right-back James Tavernier could turn his back on Trabzonspor, while the likes of Todd Cantwell and Connor Goldson could also be out.

Rangers fielded a strong side against Ajax recently and should do the same against Man Utd this weekend. However, midfielder Nico Raskin went off injured before the break in the Netherlands and could miss out here.

Former Man Utd goalkeeper Jack Butland will man the net at Murrayfield.

Rangers predicted to face Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Butland; Sterling, Souttar, Davies, Yilmaz; Diomande, Barron; Dowell, Lawrence, Matondo; Desserts.

Man Utd are still without Harry Maguire and Tyrell Malacia who are following individual training programs on home soil. However, having missed the clash with Rosenborg, Andre Onana's men, Jadon Sancho and Antony could all feature against Rangers in their first pre-season outing.

As expected Scotland player Scott McTominay has just returned from his holiday, but new signing Leny Yoro will not be available.

It could be another trial run from Erik ten Hag, who still misses players like Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho due to international commitments. The Dutchman may field two different teams in each division.

Man Utd predicted to face Rangers (4-2-3-1): Onana; Ogunney, Fish, Evans, Murray; Casemiro, Mejbri; Antony, Mount, Rashford; Wheatley.

After the young side were beaten 1-0 by Norway, Ten Hag will be looking to respond from a team that may have a few top heads involved this time around. However, it is unlikely that Man Utd will play in a strange way given their missing players, especially at the back.

Rangers will test hard and have a number of their starting XI available at the moment. It could be a high-profile affair as both sides make changes, as is often the case in pre-season.

Prediction: Rangers 2-2 Man Utd
